Late termination story - anyone else very upset by it?

Just read this after I saw it as a flag on Facebook. It's just so horrible on so many levels.

Late Termination story

I don't really know what I want to say about it; I had no idea you can have late terminations up to birth in those circumstances. I'm as upset about finding that out as finding out about the awful thing that happened to this lady.

Not judging her at all TBH; I couldn't possibly understand what she went through in making her decision. And her baby just dying from drugs, and no-one saving her because she was meant to die (if I read that right - I don't think it said they tried to get her back once they realised she was normal).

you saw the date on the story didn't you?

it's from 1996

My understanding from that article is that it wasn't clear the baby had no abnormalities until after the pm. So when she was born alive no effort was made to assist her.

There are no words really. Awful. Absolutely awful.

it was 18 years ago, I'm sure scan technology has vastly improved since then

TheFoosa · 10/02/2012 20:14

but yes, a sad story

EmmaCate · 10/02/2012 20:27

No I didn't. Doesn't really change anything, but you are right Foosa; some comfort that technology will be better.

But surely the "abnormalities" that the scan had incorrectly shown up wouldn´t have been apparant?
