I think it will probably be rumour. I did see a comment on gawker.com though suggesting that all the speculation was sparked by a tweet coming from the BBC twitter feed earlier today that had since been deleted. I haven't seen any other mention of this anywhere else though.

I think you're right; seems like there'll be many more rumours to come.
