Does that mean that there are more places to put them (ie foster care or homes)

WDYT?

No, just means there's less empty ones or more placements taking their maximum . It is here anyway

i'm just thinking about getting into fostering... we have signed up for the course and SW says it'll take about 8 months.

Is it LA or agency?

MateyMooo · 09/02/2012 14:15

la... but its difficult where we are becuase we are on an island.

I might go mainland with an agency to maintain the distance, if you see what i mean?

The story I heard was more applications had been made to remove children. Didn't hear how many were successful tho.

HJisthinkingofanewname · 09/02/2012 15:17

I assumed it was how many we're removed. I don't often hear of any turned down.

MateyMooo · 09/02/2012 15:54

thats what i thought too....

This ISN'T 'good' news.

MateyMooo · 09/02/2012 19:00

i didnt suggest for a minute that it was good news.

better news would be that more children are being well cared for. One of the tasks i will be undertaking as a foster mum will be helping a child to return to its birth family once the underlying issues have been addressed

One of the biggest questions people ask me is why do you want to foster?
surely the need is out there, and how can we possibly comment on the state of society unless we are willing to step up and help fix it?

Well said! That seems to be the problem no one wants to step up! I'm currently watching a friends sister loose three children because she cant step up and no amount of people that are willing to help is making a difference but just to say these three children are in care and are in the best place as the last three months I've watched them thrive and a far cry from how they were so well done to those in the position to foster!
