Why should he? Barclays is not state owned and never received any bailouts.

What he gets paid is purely a matter for the board and shareholders.

Why not tell Arsene Wenger to do the same? ... £6m basic and £1m bonus if Arsenal wins the Champions League is an obscene amount of money. Don't think he'd decline his salary but, if we're going to start a 'we hate rich people' campaign, shall we be more consistent?

It's a fair point, surely? All the arguments I've seen about Hester... 'why would someone need a bonus for doing what they're paid to do already?'... '£1m salary is an obscene amount of money'... 'any idiot can run a bank'... apply just as much to a premiership football manager. Moreso really. Compared to being paid £1m for running a massive international bank employing 30,000-ish people, £6m Wenger only has to point 30 or 40 very talented (and equally obscenely paid plus performance bonuses) footballers at the goal, tell them to score more than the other team (what they're paid to do) and then sit back and watch them win. :)
