I remember when overdue with my first, me and my mum would check the paper each day to see potential famous birthdays. Got quite excited when spotted Tony Bank's. Gave up thinking she would arrive that day when it got to about 17.00. But she managed to sneak in at 23.05. Think this is so sad.

Tinker is his birthday in April? I seem to remember noting that it's near or on the same day as mine too.

Awful way to go for his family to live with but at least he is oblivious I guess. He'll be hugely missed, although not by my dsis's ex, whose first major, serious girlfriend was enticed away by Norty Tony...NOT my dsis I hasten to add...

Very sad to hear this. I used to live in the same area as TB, in fact two roads away.

When I was doing my A Levels, I used to work part-time in the local video shop where he was a member and whenever he came in he was always had time for a quick 'hello, how are you'.

My parents have recently lost 2 friends to massive strokes such as this. The only consolation is that the patient rarely has time to suffer and is not usually aware of their situation. As far as Tony banks is concerned, hopefully, he was enjoying a nice holiday when he went.

first person I voted for when I was 18 in the local elections. I lived local to him too and he would always say "morning" or whatever in passing.

What a shame for his family.
