story here

I know that there are always reasons, but I just don't get it. Take the baby to the police or leave it on my doorstep- just not naked in the cold, PLEASE!

that's so sad

heartbreaking

Such a tragedy for that baby girl. I read an article about people who had been abandoned like this and how it had affected their lives and I always think of that when I hear of this.

Does anyone remember the baby abandoned in Edinburgh a few months ago? Well, they did a DNA test on him and have established that the mother came from Eastern Europe. It is amazing what they can do with the technology as when he is older, if the mum is never found, he will have at least some small piece of where he came from.

Hearbreaking.

thecattleareALOHing · 24/12/2005 00:30

So sad. You just want to take her home, don't you?

WhenAChildIsBored · 24/12/2005 00:31

Heartbreaking!!! Oh, bloody hell. I can spell, I just can't hold my ale. I wish I could take the poor little mite home and treat her like a little princess. It's so unfair. All children deserve to be adored and marvelled at the way our children are.

My dh wants to say that can't be the mother who is culpable for this, surely. With a baby this young there must be an element of panic/depression on her part, and she should have been able to rely on support either from the medical profession (whose job it should be to identify a young woman with no support)or from family/friends.

Personally I have had too much vino and I just want to adopt her and cuddle her...probably because my "baby" has just started walking and talking and I am freaking out big style!"

kiskidee · 24/12/2005 01:00

she is gorgeous, the little mite.

merrySOAPBOXingday · 24/12/2005 01:07

According to the BBC they have traced the mother.

Let's hope there is a happy outcome to this story!

This is just down the road from me (my near'st town, how sad for the baby and the mother.

biglipskissinunderthemistletoe · 24/12/2005 09:14

at least they have found the mother...

Enideepmidwinter · 24/12/2005 09:28

My midwife was on the news this morning she is looking after her

wessexgirl · 24/12/2005 10:03

Have you seen her on the news? She is absolutely beautiful. I'm not far from Yeovil and thought about hightailing it up there and pretending she was mine...don't think I'd be believed though with a 5 month-old in tow...

I'm glad they've found the mother; hope she can be helped so that she and the little one have a good future together.

wessexgirl · 24/12/2005 10:04

Just reread my post; I mean the baby is beautiful, not Enid's midwife, lol. Though I'm sure she's a very lovely woman .
