Am I a bit slow with this news? I'm watching the news so upset.

I'm always sceptical about these surveys/studies since I was told the MMR one was conducted with only 12 people! Hmm I agree with whatmeworry said, the risk of flu far outweighs the other risk IMO as a mother of a 5yr old with underlying health conditions. Both my DC's had the vaccine last year. I thought they was no single jab this year as it's been incorporated into the normal flu vaccine?? x

Misspixietrix: yes that's correct it's the combined vaccine to include swine flu, not the single swine flu pandemerix although swine is included, buy the vaccine us imuvac so the private clinic I enquires at told me! Do both your children have health conditions so they need the vaccine or is 1 just personal choice! My daughter has no underlying health conditions I just panicked after the outbreaks last winter so am thinking of doing the same this winter! I just wonder at what age I would stop vaccinating her once she got to 5 maybe?

Does anyone seriously trust the media to publish an accurate and well-informed story on vaccines, given the massive hysteria they caused over MMR?

Misspixietrix · 06/10/2011 14:05

No Not a personal choice cockneysparrow not sure what the ! was for? Hmm Ds suffers from a bad chest in the winter which is how Dd started but he's too early to be diagnosed with asthma yet apparently? which is similar to what I was told in the early years of Dd's trouble; it took years before she was given a diagnosis. The GP's actually advised me to have both DC's done as it prevented him from catching it and risking passing in onto Dd if that makes sense, said Dd who has already had 3 asthma attacks this year, I'm dreading the winter onset already as this is when is when her chest gets worse :(

Apologies the !'s were typos, I hope I didn't offend just you mentioned children and 1 having underlying health conditions and just wondered if you were vaccinating other child as I am planning to through choice! I guess I just wonder if I am being over protective and panicking a little vaccinating my daughter I've got her name down in a waiting list at a clinic locally there expecting their supplies 17th oct so should be around then, wondered if any other mums are vaccinating their healthy under 5s and if so do they have clinic details

no worries hun, no offence taken :) sorry if it seemed like I had :( Thanks we're on low incomes at the minute, so aren't in a position to pay a clinic but I had to fight the nhs docs tooth & nail to get it; the bleeding rottweiler receptionists with apparent medical degrees wouldn't book her in at first, until I snitched on her informed the GP & he then advised them to do both. I sadly don't know of any clinics that might help but will keep a look x
