Remember Meadhbh who missed her airlift to London for her liver?

Well she's got another chance....relatively stable

Hopefully her progress continues well.

It's a very sad story and a disgrace that transport couldn't be arranged in time for the previous shot she had.

But surely it should be partly up to hospitals to provide transport for this sort of life saving emergency? Or could she have travelled to Britain and waited there, as a cousin of mine did? (sadly he died waiting) He travelled by plane and stayed in a hospice. The plan was for him to return by plane too, if he had received an organ.

In the US there is an air ambulance service with a few different options for patients under different circumstances. In such a large country there are probably economies of scale possible whose absence would militate against making this sort of business viable in the British Isles though.

I can see the need for her to have reliable and specialised transport getting to the hosp, but not really sure why they think she will need the same sort of treatment on the way home. Wonder if there is any way she could recuperate in the UK for a while before setting off for home, and surely this would be advisable for medical reasons anyway?

It seems to me that this is an opportunity for some private or corporate sponsor to donate the services of a plane.

I think that after such an intensive operation she should have had a private plane, to convalesce in her own home. It would be brilliant if there could be a corporate sponsor for this, its very worthy. I wish I had millions to share
