Princess Di - premonition?

Lethal · 20/10/2003 23:12

I read in an article somewhere this morning that Princess Di "foresaw" her own death, and gave Paul Burrell a letter saying that someone was planning to kill her in a car accident. Has anyone heard any more about this? I wonder how true it is - it would also be interesting to know whether it was an actual premonition she had or whether someone may have heard about it and told her. Weird...

Its in a letter she sent to Paul Burrell, it was on the news last night. Does he want to make some more money perhaps?

doormat · 21/10/2003 13:43

I thought this also fio2,
is his money running low??????
IMO I think Paul Burrell wil release these letters every time he may be strapped for cash or he is out of the "medias eye".

fio2 · 21/10/2003 13:52

just what I though doormat, thought I was just being cynical as usual

doormat · 21/10/2003 13:57

We must be cynical then fio2
If this info was so important why didnt he bring it up at his "trial" or at least at the inquest in France..It sickens me that people like him make money from her memory.

lucy123 · 21/10/2003 14:00

I thought this too. I was also wondering why the BBC saw fit to broadcast it on every news bulletin: plenty of people have the odd paranoid theory. If the theory is true, obviously somebody plied the driver with drink (or paid the several witnesses) and engineered the paparazzi - not a very efficient form of assassination really.

I imagine when you're in the public eye, all sorts of thoughts of a dramatic "celebrity" death must pass through your mind. Tampering with brakes is all a little far fetched though, surely? I suppose if you were "out to get" someone famous you would try a bit harder than to plot a death which could so easily be revealed as a murder. Not very convincing. Or is that what "they" want us to think?.....

zebra · 21/10/2003 15:01

Apparently Paul Burrel is just about to publish a book of some sort.

As for Di having a premonition... Let's see, now, what's the 2nd leading cause of death for women age 35-40yo... might it be, car accidents? And that's without being famous enough that the media hound you on scooters and the paranoid belief that fastening your seatbelt will make it easier for someone to kidnap you.

ThomCat · 21/10/2003 15:29

Those poor boys. The truth will never come out. At the end of the day she shouldn't have died. I think that 5 years down the line for this letter to be 'released' is just cruel on William and Harry.

Hughsie · 21/10/2003 15:35

I agree Thomcat

I do think that there could be things that have gone on behind the scenes. When you see these realistic crime thrillers and the dodgy govt behaviour portrayed on them of lies and deceit - it does make you think that a cover up operation could easily be planned - hard to believe though really as Dodi Fayed was from such a high profile background too.

codswallop · 21/10/2003 15:54

ill tell you, my pal was her lawyer and i wouldnt be suprised

Hughsie · 21/10/2003 16:30

Any gossip then cods??

codswallop · 21/10/2003 16:33

well she had Loads of affairs

Hughsie · 21/10/2003 16:35

Dont blame her - would you want to be married to that cold fish especially as she was beautiful - how did she think she would ever get away with it though????

codswallop · 21/10/2003 16:41

dunno. after she died(well after the funeral) pal rang me and told me something major was about ot come out and we were to watch the news. It never did and she denies knowledge of it.

Hughsie · 21/10/2003 16:47

that's interesting - and it makes you wonder how many people are around who know a lot more than we do on the matter. i'm sure more revelations will be come out over the years.

codswallop · 21/10/2003 16:52

she also said that Burrell and earl Spencer were a pair of twats who "wanted to be her".

that was before she died(well about her brother anyway).

burell in partic she disliked

Hughsie · 21/10/2003 17:22

Blimey - how strange but kind of understandable from the insight we now have into his life

GeorginaA · 21/10/2003 17:38

According to the news report I heard this morning, she quite often "predicted" different ways she would die. Another favourite of hers was "one day I'll go up in a helicopter and not come back down" (which I thought was quite impressive... most helicopters that I've heard of come back down again even if their occupants are returned to earth in several pieces...)

Even if the letter was genuine, I got the impression that she was fairly paranoid.

Hughsie · 21/10/2003 17:47

She must have had reason to be suspicious though dont you think...no smoke without fire and all that

GeorginaA · 21/10/2003 17:50

Oh yes... I'm just not sure that it helps "prove" either way what happened that night in Paris.

pupuce · 21/10/2003 18:09

Just heard on radio that P Burell is serializing his new book IN the daily mirror... who is also the tabloid that published the letter yesterday (as a scoop).... I could have predicted that one

hmb · 21/10/2003 18:48

Thomcat, you are quite right that she shouldn't have died. Only one person survived the crash and he was the only person in the car who was wearing a seat belt. Who knows what would have happened if she had had the sense to wear a seat belt? Being a celebrity doesn't save you from the laws of physics.

zebra · 21/10/2003 18:49

And that was what I heard, that P. Di was afraid to wear a seat belt because she thought it would make her too slow to get out of a car in case of a kidnap attempt.
