AwesomePan · 21/07/2011 22:09

'press' is really good. Luca - press - 'press' against these people, and they will yield. Excellent.

BornSicky · 21/07/2011 22:16

" Matt Nixson, who has worked for the Sun for six months, was approached by four News International security guards at 6.30pm at the newspaper's office at Wapping. The guards asked him to leave the building because he was being dismissed. His computer was seized. News International sources stressed this was standard procedure and did not indicate any wrong doing during Nixson's time at the Sun. They said the evidence indicating wrong doing related to his time at the News of the World.

The evidence against Nixson was uncovered as part of the internal News International investigation run at Wapping by Will Lewis, the company's general manager, and Simon Greenberg, the director of corporate affairs. Lewis and Greenberg report to Lord Grabiner, the QC who is acting as the independent chairman of News Corporation's management and standards committee. "

From the Guardian.

So, NI have sacked him and confiscated his PC etc, so are they going to hand it all over to the police immediately then?

I don't like this at all. NI might be claiming or showing they are "dealing with the problem", but they should be referring it all direct to the police.

Having worked in Social Services during lock downs, I know that when there is a death of a child/person in your care, everything is locked down immediately so that all material can be scrutinised by the proper authority. THAT is what should have happened at NI, instead of closing the paper, sacking the staff and now conducting their own internal enquiry.

NI/NC are not the proper authority or the police. they should not be acting as such.

There will be scapegoats. Agree with BS. Very wary of convenient scapegoats.

AwesomePan · 21/07/2011 22:20

yes BS - the unforgiveable delay/notice given to all concerned is a crucial and 'game-changing' step. Iwork as a manager in the public service - if any of my staff were to be suspected of such greivious behaviour we would be visited without notice.

BitOfFun · 21/07/2011 22:21

Good point, BornSicky- I will not be a bit surprised if stuff is being 'lost' as we speak. Remember the bin bags in the NYT article?

LucaBrasi · 21/07/2011 22:22

I agree BS, and it beggars belief that they are left to provide evidence rather than it being taken. Needless to say, there will be fuck all evidence left now

Useless fuckers

Still, there are ways to object and that is to not buy the NI products/services. The consumer still has power, if they choose to exercise it. I have my doubts though
