Oh, so nice of the Murdochs to condescend to attend the MPs committee. Pity they didn't do so without having to be summoned - it wasn't an invitation to a teaparty which they could just decline. Hmm
Apparently they and RB are likely to refuse to answer many questions on legal grounds. Well, don't let them blame us if we make unflattering inferences from their silences.

chipstick10 · 14/07/2011 19:09

I hope its alot more measured this time. They really were outrageously rude to john yates.

LucaBrasi · 14/07/2011 19:41

Funny that a teaparty has been mentioned. Fox News was largely responsible for the stoking of the fires for the Tea Party in the US.

LucaBrasi · 14/07/2011 19:52

Thruaglassdarkly
The Guardian have been covering this regulary for two years. But yes, I do think Murdoch has many, clever enemies. Of his own making mainly.

GrimmaTheNome · 14/07/2011 19:58

Luca - yes, it did occur to me when I wrote that they wouldn't decline a Tea Party invitation.

LucaBrasi · 14/07/2011 20:00

Vince Cables' interview for Radio 4 this evening was interesting. If you remember, he was stripped of his powers in Dec after a 'fake interview' when he said he was 'declaring war on Murdoch' re Sky Bid.

On the recent events, he said it was akin to the overthrow of a dictator, when everyone who had previously been afraid, suddenly felt free to say they are delighted that he has gone. I think that sums it up beautifully

catsareevil · 14/07/2011 20:03

Just reading the comments about the McCann case, and I wanted to check something that I'm unsure of - what is the current position on the coloboma? Did Madeleine have one or not?

chipstick10 · 14/07/2011 20:17

Why whats happened re the mcscams have i missed something?

catsareevil · 14/07/2011 20:21

I dont know if there is anything today about them? Sorry, maybe I have posted in the wrong place, if so I'm happy for my post to be deleted, the earlier stuff in this thread just jogged my memory.

SpeedyGonzalez · 14/07/2011 20:25

Luca - I'm actually glad Vince Cable screwed up over that interview as it paved the way for the execrable, power-crazed cretin to have to step away from the deal in utter humiliation.

Mwa ha ha harrr.

Grin

Anyone else think of this when they see RM?

FWIW I am a normal voter who cares very much about the bastardly face of RM's business dealings. I have despised him and his cohorts for years - maybe because I'm a tv bod? Anyway he's been trying for years to dig his claws into the BBC - Sky executives are always publicly bad-mouthing the Beeb and the extent of its reach - obviously for purely altruistic reasons as opposed to power-hungry ones Hmm.

So yes, in two years' time I will still be opposing his takeover bid.

Pannus · 14/07/2011 20:27

Ohhhhh the thread is dropping away - is that because we are all exhausted or because like me you noticed your kids hadn't had a bath for a week?

teej · 14/07/2011 20:42

Speedy
With you the Mwar ha has

Fascinated by the US stuff. There may be Twouble ahead. The neo cons would say that that is business.

God knows what we'll get next if he sells off his newspapers in the UK, which has been predicted. But by then, we must hope that the politicians will have discovered that their arms have sprouted to a sufficient length to enable the grabbing of their own cocks

edam · 14/07/2011 22:46

Speedy - I keep thinking of James Murdoch's speech last year - or the year before - when he spat out the words 'state-sponsored journalism' referring to the Beeb, and claimed 'the only guarantor of free speech is the profit motive'. Yeah, right...

SpeedyGonzalez · 14/07/2011 23:15

Edam - similarly I remember Tony Ball and Richard Woolfe, both wittering on in Edinburgh about how awful the Beeb is. Yawn. How stoopid do these people think we are? Hmm Prats.

David Cameron is a liar and has lost all respect and credability. He knew about the activities of Coulson when he employed him. Was Coulson paid from public funds? Did Cameron accept that Coulson was unaware of the hacking scandal. Although he was the Editoir and must have borne responsibility for not just editorial content.

George Osborne Recommended Coulson and knew about him and what he did.

David Cameron now left Coulson high and dry I will never trust Cameron again. He knows the British public are so easily fooled. He makes out we have a huge deficent but spends millions on fighing Libya.

We praises Blair and wants to be like him. Who have we voted, a person who is in the pockets of Rupert Murdock.

Anything comes out of crafty cameron is a lie, I will never believe a word he says.

Like he made the cuts so fast and sharp. He has many to fight Libya and give millions of pounds of aid to India, Pakistan and Africa and leaves his own people who voted for the posh toff to struggle.

David Cameron should resign and do the decent thing by letting the British people know that he had a bigger involvement with Rupert.

kushi · 18/07/2011 01:09

I would hate to know that we were conned by David Cameron, by being so close to Rebecka and Rupert.

They made him win the elections and gave him huge coverage, the ordinary man next door who will help the poor.

Little did we know, that he is worse than his idol Tony Blair, he is taking us in war with Libya where Obma, has little interest.

Gordon Brown warned us against this man. He said he will make severe cuts and it will be like the 80's were the conservatives made huge cuts and left the British people struggling and suffering everyday life.

There should be a re-election as we have been deceived by David Cameron, George Osborne,

They only won through Rupert.

Not once did slimy toff Cameron say that Rebecca should resign and he never said anything against Rupert.

kushi · 18/07/2011 01:13

Ed Miliband will make a great, genuine Prime Minister.

I really have so much admiration and respect for him as he spoke up to the Rupert and Rebeca.

He was not scared and showed real courage and never once hid or lied.

A lot of people now know Ed Miliband spoke for the people, it is so refreshing to see a Politician that does not lie or belittle the British Public.

This is the Prime Minister we need. He has genuine care and understanding for the poor and needy
