apparently by deleting Milly's messages her family still had some hope that she might still be alive

frillyflower, hopefully the Mail's time will come. And soon. The evidence will be out there somewhere.

IntergalacticHussy, with your last post completely

noddyholder · 13/07/2011 13:02

NOTW Chief lawyer Tom Crone has left NI

BornSicky · 13/07/2011 13:05

oh feck. tom watson asking whether the intelligence services will be called to give evidence or questioned, as there's possibility that rogue agents were/are involved.

if that's true, this has just gone nuclear.

whitewave · 13/07/2011 13:09

teeg - the point is that no-one is trying to dictate who has who as a friend, but any meetings either socially or workwise should be recorded by any public servant - this should be considered good practice. Notes should also be made and open for consideration to the appropriate bodies. We can then see any pattern that emerges as time goes by and subsequent decisions being made on our behalf.

whitewave · 13/07/2011 13:12

bornsicky

Think about it - if some old hacks can get hold of stuff relating to the British PM and the British Royals - foreign spooks and would be terriorists must find it an absolute doddle. MI5 etc must have some serious questions to answer

jenny60 · 13/07/2011 13:22

Think you may be right about DC. Something more is up, isn't it, or he would be milking this for all its worth. He's been pushed into being active on this: not good at all and the Coulson issue is just waiting to re-emerge at some point. Mind you, the ongoing police and NI revelations have deflected some attention away from his poor leadership of his party so he's been lucky there. I bet DM is now glad he's not Labour leader as, having been so close to Balir et al, he must have had some skeletons in the closet too.

frillyflower · 13/07/2011 13:27

Bobthebuddha - I do hope so (re Daily Mail). They are like horrible playground bullies imo.

And I hate all the misogynist s--t about who's thin, who's fat, who's got a wrinkle blah blah, never mind the dubious, lowest common denominator, rabble rousing politics and Nazi-admiring history.

OhBuggerandArse · 13/07/2011 13:31

Oh yes, new thread please - this one keeps nearly crashing my computer.

OhYouBadBadCrookshanks · 13/07/2011 13:33

another vote for a new thread please too. Perhaps mn could cut this one up so that we have the last days posts on a new thread for continuity sake. I'm only going to have mobile access at the weekend and I think my mobile will not cope.

BornSicky · 13/07/2011 13:35

whitewave I think Watson's insinuation was actually that the intelligence services might have been pasisng information onto the press, rather than them accessing private info. I think, under law they have the right to access "private" info if it's related to their investigations.

far more sinister to think that the spooks are sharing their access and info with the tabloid press.

BornSicky · 13/07/2011 13:36

shall i just start a new thread, or where's headfairy?

OhYouBadBadCrookshanks · 13/07/2011 13:38

Have asked mn to do some cut and paste magic onto a new thread to carry us over.

ThisIsANiceCage · 13/07/2011 13:38

New thread: Les tricoteuses

ThisIsANiceCage · 13/07/2011 13:39

Oh bollocks, cross-posted with more sophisticated new thread stuff.

BornSicky · 13/07/2011 13:56

migrating to TIANC's thread

AitchTwoOh · 13/07/2011 13:57

moi aussi...

JustineMumsnet · 13/07/2011 14:14

Brilliant but now I don't think anyone should be able to own more than 39% of a channel.......I hope the inquiry has teeth to deal with this in the inquiry.

Politicians and Lord Levenson - we are watching you..you lot had better get this right. Come on, just act in the public interest, NOT big business.

chipstick10 · 13/07/2011 15:13

Imo, apart from the public appauled at the hacking of Milly Dowlers phone i dont think the wider public really care about BSKYB. The Mps can take no moral high ground, most of them have been in dirt up to their necks with expenses etc. Their has been something quite ugly about their behaviour over the past few days and i look upon them no diff to the murdoch/brooks/police/journos.

Peachy · 13/07/2011 16:47

I doubt anyone much doubts corruption amongst MPs either.

But I know DH just saw the news and cheered, and after the shit he got working for NI who can blame him?

ThisIsANiceCage · 13/07/2011 17:07

The MPs' expenses issue is peanuts compared to this, chipstick.

While pettily dishonest and obviously unacceptable, it had no impact on the functioning of our democracy. Chuck out a few individual fraudsters, introduce proper accounting like every other employer: job done.

The current business is about who actually runs the country, and how (whether) they are accountable, and to whom.

OhYouBadBadCrookshanks · 13/07/2011 17:10

TNC is right, this is nothing like the MPS expenses. The corruption from this taints the very heart of our democracy, our Press and our Police - some of the the cornerstones of our society
