apparently by deleting Milly's messages her family still had some hope that she might still be alive

Pannus · 10/07/2011 00:05

Yup the BBC et al are practically having orgasms about how brill the NOTW have been - excuse me - I do not agree

Ponders · 10/07/2011 00:08

from twitter

also STimes: nine journos, three police officers (unnamed) may face jail over hacking thetim.es/r5Esdy

still behind paywall so you can only see the headline - which actually says at least nine journalists Shock

AwesomePan · 10/07/2011 00:09

what's a paywall?

AwesomePan · 10/07/2011 00:09

ah, non-subscription?

Ponders · 10/07/2011 00:11

all the NI papers are paid-for now (including NotW - well, until this weekend, I think we can all enjoy its swansong for nothing)

Ponders · 10/07/2011 00:13

\link{http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/notw/public/home/\yep, down to its usual standard} - tits, bums & royals

Pannus · 10/07/2011 00:24

Ponders - thanks - trouble now is the big companies have all gone to the Mail .

Nancy66 · 10/07/2011 00:31

They would have all advertised with the Mail anyway

belledechocchipcookie · 10/07/2011 00:35

have you seen this?

Ponders · 10/07/2011 00:36

Yes, belle - I just started a new thread on it Grin

belledechocchipcookie · 10/07/2011 00:38

Doh! I was so pleased I forgot to search. Grin

Ponders · 10/07/2011 00:46

I think we posted at the same second practically! Grin

JustineMumsnet · 10/07/2011 01:50

KatieMumsnet is going on BBCPoliticsShow at 11 tomorro to meet Times Executive Editor Roger Alton - chap who thinks "yummy mummies" at Mumsnet were to blame for the demise of the NOTW. (Go Katie!)

piprabbit · 10/07/2011 01:52

Good Luck Katie Grin.

You're up late Justine.

AwesomePan · 10/07/2011 01:54

Bring him some biscuits. Some organic shortbread perhaps?

madhattershouse · 10/07/2011 01:55

OOoo definately worth watching...hope she lets them know that we are not all "yummy mummies" but the really concerned that the next generation are being brianwashed by the gutter press and the base levels they wil sink to for a story!

ThisIsANiceCage · 10/07/2011 02:46

Not directly relevant, but someone waaay above mentioned HarperCollins is owned by Murdoch, and I was just contemplating whether his control of a book publisher is actually malign, or pretty harmless really.

Then I remembered that in 1998 Murdoch binned Chris Patten's book about China to protect his China business interests.

Ho hum.

Miffster · 10/07/2011 02:56

LOL at Mumsnet (& the CofE) being the catalyst for purging the Aegean Stables of the Screws, causing the fall of the Murdoch Empire and so on. As a viacar's daughter and MNetter I am very proud.

Surely our future role is obvious though? With the demise of the PCC, what is needed is MN to step in. All complaints regarding the media to be posted on AIBU.

'AIBU to think this column by Jan Moir is homophobic bollocks?'

And so on. Would save everyone heaps of time.

I think Sara Payne is loyal because of the huge amount of support they gave Sarah's law.
