from Procter and Gamble:

Thank you BadKitten for your email regarding News International/News of the World.

madamimadam · 07/07/2011 15:13

Justine, Thanks for letting us know - and again for taking such a magnificent stand with Sky.

Tesco, P&G et al: That's how you do it.^^

AwesomePan · 07/07/2011 15:23

Just spoke with ASDA PR - they indicate they have no plans to advertise with NOtW in the future, though he was unsure just to how much they actually did spend on any of the Sundays.

Says he will get permission to forward me the link to their statement on the subject and I will post it here, when ever, or if ever it arrives.

I know the main focus on this thread is on the boycott/bskyb takeover etc. but I just wanted to post this and simply marvel at the irony.

Sheridan trail evidence to be reviewed

Granted, sheridan has been a twat in how he handled this matter, and I always suspected the NOTW must have hacked his phone to be so certain of the story they printed about him swinging. But, the idea that coulson and his lackys could now be charged with perjury? As a result of the case of perjury against sheridan? You couldn't make it up could you? I guess this is where coulson is 'taking one for the team (brooks/wade)' eh?

I don't think this makes sheridan any less guilty of lying about swinging. It just makes it all the more satisfying that in their attempts to nail sheridan, they'll get their just rewards Grin

Just thought I would let you guys now Proctor and Gamble put mums first according to their website so if you want to pressure them into dropping advertisement to News of the World then drop them a line.

Just had an email from Tesco:

Dear ~XXXXX

Thank you for your email.

We share the very wide concern of our customers about these allegations, and the great distress they have caused to the families involved. Some people have asked what action Tesco will take. We sympathise with their concern and understand their impatience. But we believe the absolute priority now is for the allegations to be investigated thoroughly and properly. The focus must therefore be on the police investigation and on the public inquiries being considered urgently by the government. We must all support them and allow them to do their work so that all necessary and appropriate action is taken in the light of their findings, all lessons are learned for the future and public confidence is restored. Kind Regards

Lexy St Clair
Tesco Customer Service

GrimmaTheNome · 07/07/2011 16:20

Ah, I see. Because dropping their advertising from NotW interferes with the investigations...errrr...how? Nope, they've lost me there.

thefirstMrsDeVere · 07/07/2011 16:22

Lexy St Clair.

Do you think that is a stage name?

GrimmaTheNome · 07/07/2011 16:22

Oh, and this may well be a whole other thread but:

The focus must therefore be on the police investigation

Are we talking here investigation by the police or of the police? Because seems to me the Met has some serious questions to answer.

hurricanewyn · 07/07/2011 16:23

Have I missed something? Will Tesco withdrawing their advertising somehow stop the police from doing their work??

Weasely fuckers. I think I'm going to post back my clubcard even if they do decided not to advertise in the NOTW. How are they even still considering advertising there at the moment??

AwesomePan · 07/07/2011 16:24

Asda's position from their PR team:

"A number of people have contacted us through social media asking us about our advertising policy in the News of the World following the phone hacking allegations that emerged this week.

As we?ve explained in individual replies, we understand people?s concerns and reiterate that we have no plans to advertise in the News of the World.

In fact, contrary to some news reports we?re not a big spender on advertising in the News of the World ? or indeed any Sunday paper. In this calendar year we have only spent around £34,000 on advertisements in the News of the World newspaper."

headfairy · 07/07/2011 16:27

rumour mill from Downing street says there's a 60% chance someone big will be arrested this evening at around 6pm...

OP posts:
hammybobs · 07/07/2011 16:31

Just watching the news conference with sheridan's lawyer and tom watson. Brooks is being mentioned as having instructed an investigator jailed for phone hacking. Watson also stating that emails that were requested for the trial, the NOTW witnes said they were lost in india?!? But as they have now been produced to stitch up coulson, the jury did not have the full facts available and therefore their verdict may not stand.

Sheridan's lawyer is in his element. Can't really make out what is being asked by journos, but it's pretty compelling stuff.

Crapola: RB and Ross Kemp lived behind us in Battersea when that happened. Popbitch started the goss about it being a man she found him with years ago but the official line is that it was another woman.

this gossip was from a gay man who knows a gay man.....and op and on.

headfairy · 07/07/2011 16:41

*Newsflash the news of the world has been closed down. I'll give you more when I know it!!

The upshot of this will be sexist git Tommy Sheridan will get away with it be wholly exonerated. This will be a great thing for the future of misogyny 'Socialism'. Oh deep joy.

stretch · 07/07/2011 16:42
