apparently by deleting Milly's messages her family still had some hope that she might still be alive

bornsicky/rosetti - thanks. I am just staggered that over 7m Britons read such a downmarket newspaper really. And ashamed.

Greythorne- Peston is commonly believed to in the pay of NI. Where do you think he gets his scoops from? NI need to have someone on the inside at the Beeb.

JulesJules · 06/07/2011 14:19

emmanana It isn't Rupert Murdoch or the immoral journalists who will "at least be pissed off" by people leaving copies of the NOTW in the looroll aisle in the supermarket on Sunday. It is the largely female and poorly paid retail workers who will have to tidy it up on top of everything else they have to do.

NerfHerder · 06/07/2011 14:19

x-post with talkin.

Charvie · 06/07/2011 14:32

i was talking to my dh last night about this and we said that if we still had our shop (local newsagents) we would have cancelled the order for the NOW and the Scum and took a hit on our sales (most of our customers who buy those papers would have gone to another shop rather than choose another paper)

YaMaYaMa · 06/07/2011 14:40

I dont understand why they hacked into the phone of the father of a man killed in the 7/7 bombings. What were their reasons? What motivated them to violate that famiy's grief?

As to this quote from PerfectStorm further up:

^Andre Handscombe said that the night before Rachel Nickel's funeral, he and her little boy wrote her a letter, sealed it in an envelope, and placed it on her coffin under the flowers to be buried with her.

Two days later it appeared in a tabloid newspaper.^

I just cannot fathom how a human being could do something like that and live with themselves. It is truly awful.

capricorn76 · 06/07/2011 14:46

For some reason I've always found Robert Peston and Laura Keunesberg suspect. Don't know why.

freybean · 06/07/2011 14:50

is the PM at this debate?

capricorn76 · 06/07/2011 14:51

This whole affair is not only disgusting it makes the UK look just as corrupt as any dodgy banana republic. We are officially a corrupt joke.

Terribletriplets · 06/07/2011 14:54

Thank you for your email to Philip Clarke, our Chief Executive, to which I have been asked to respond.

I appreciate how concerned you must be over the recent allegations made against the News of The World .

These latest claims will cause huge distress to a family which has suffered enough. However, it is now a matter for the police and like everyone, we await the outcome of their investigation.

Assuring you of our best intentions at all times,

Gary O'Connor
Customer Service Executive

I guess this is the standard response from Tesco?

Poor Mme. Lindt!

freybean · 06/07/2011 15:00

reply back to tesco saying that until the outcome of the investigation you'll be shopping elsewhere

Terribletriplets · 06/07/2011 15:05

Yep! At the co-op.

madamimadam · 06/07/2011 15:16

Fucking hell. Tom Watson on speaking in the debate now. It's like LA Confidential. But true.

madamimadam · 06/07/2011 15:20

Freybean, someone on Twitter reported that Cameron's in the Member's Dining Room eating roast beef and supping claret.

Poor love. He's got to eat, hasn't he?

VivaLeBeaver · 06/07/2011 15:21

Just been in our village shop. There are two stacks of the sun newspaper still there unsold.

madamimadam · 06/07/2011 15:23

...and sweet Lord, Tesco, who is doing your PR?

Do you honestly think footdragging like this while more muck emerges does you any credit at all?

Still. Every little helps, eh?

YaMaYaMa · 06/07/2011 15:25

Cameron is probably not only drinking claret, but doing so whilst wearing a monocle and with his feet up on a poor person.

BornSicky · 06/07/2011 15:25

simon hughes is going to Offcom to ask if bskyb is an "appropriate" organisation to hold a broadcasting licence! genius!

Have sainsburys pulled their ads yet? I'm meant to be doing my big shop this weekend.

Jux · 06/07/2011 15:40

I've burnt my boats with the Co-op and Tesco. There's no where else in our town except small independent shops, so they'll be thinking they've got a captive clientele, but Lidl is opening soon. Ha! I've hated Tesco for years, but was rather fond of the Co-op. Hope I'll get a sensible reply from them....

sundayrose10 · 06/07/2011 15:41

Well done MNHQ. I am really proud. Have cancelled direct debit to Sky (hate it but child watches sitcoms on the kids channels). They are due payment so I'm sure they will disconnect me or do I actually need to call them?

I hope this the start of something beautiful. Hate NI, Murdoch...hope they rot.

NOTW is such a pile of shit - it's gutter press at it's finest.

I tell you what I find so impressive about this forum - they actually LISTEN to the people who actually make the forum. That is so commendable.

Terribletriplets · 06/07/2011 15:42

Co-op have withdrawn their ads from NotW.
(Tesco board are in an emergency meeting)

GrimmaTheNome · 06/07/2011 15:44

(Tesco board are in an emergency meeting)

oh good. their standard reply was wearing a bit thin.

ThisIsANiceCage · 06/07/2011 15:45

sundayrose10 call and cancel with Sky as well as your bank. You don't want to be in breach of contract and them to treat it as a debt.

Plus you get to tell them why. Grin

freybean · 06/07/2011 15:45

madam - thanks, yeah the poor love does need an how many hours lunch break

wonder what tesco will say?
