Was anyone else infuriated by this column in Saturday's Guardian? For one thing "the first film made in my lifetime in which a woman has been given a funny line" - what nonsense. Secondly and really offensively "They could make a film which came down broadly in favour of female genital mutilation and it would still, if the women had lines like this, be more feminist than Thelma and Louise."

I used to like her ...

She is an idiot just for the female genital mutilation comment - what a thing to make a joke/light-hearted comment about.

I didn't really get a lot of the article. Some of her allusions made me go 'huh?' It didn't tell me anything much about the film either.
