BBC story here.

I suppose this will probably mean the end of the Peace Camp outside Parliament. He was one person who made a difference - millions of people must have seen his protest.

I was just reading that. How sad. He was a lovely man, totally comitted to what he believed in but always happy to chat and debate with those that didn't share his views too.

:( how sad, i thought the camp was told me move off a few months ago?

New protests were (I think) banned some time ago, but he could continue as he had begun his protest before the ban came in. In April, the Appeal Court ruled he would have to move off GLA controlled land (the grass), and the perimeter of the camp was adjusted accordingly. It made little difference in practice - as he was so ill by then that was receiving treatment not camping out. Without him, I doubt there will be a way for the protest to continue, and I do think that's a shame.

RIP Brian
Undaunted, putting up with no end of hostility and discomfort, for a cause he steadfastly believed in.
Condolences to family and friends.

RIP Brian. A true loss to those who believe in the importance of protest and dissent in a democracy.

I was so sad to hear about this. Very few people have the strength that he showed.

SardineQueen · 20/06/2011 13:51

That's very sad news.
