Great Grandmother at 38?

RobF · 15/06/2011 12:22

Apparently there is a woman in Rotherham that has become a great grandmother at the age of 38, as her 13 year old grandaughter has had a baby. I can't find anything about it on the internet, so it might just be a rumour, but I can imagine it being true unfortunately. A sad state of affairs IMO.

So she became a grandmother at 25, so must have become a mother herself at what, 12? Hmm I think if that were the case Jeremy Kyle/Sun/NOTW/DM and the likes would have htis splashed all over their websites.

IF its true then its sad for all involved. The numbers don't quite seem to add up though...

I found this story, might be the woman involved might not.

I don't know where the story came from, people have been talking about it at work. I'm in Sheffield so it's not a million miles away from here.

I was going to go and what, as I read it wrong and thought it said grandmother not the great first.

If this is true how sad but I can't find owt in the press either.

Threatening to 'smack the ambulance man'. That's nice. Hmm

WorzselMummage · 15/06/2011 19:51

I would be so ashamed.

The story in the article RobF linked to is from 1999, so I am assuming there is something more recent out there that you are referring to

RobF · 16/06/2011 12:57

There's been nothing in the news. That story from 1999 is the only thing I could find when I searched for great grandmother Rotherham. The dates add up if it is the same family. Scary to think that someone born in 1999 is already a parent though.

So sad. I hope it's not true.

SardineQueen · 16/06/2011 16:49

I remember on record breakers when I was a girl they had a family where something like 10 generations were all alive. Looking back they must have been having babies really young all the way through but back in the 80s this was a cause for cheer and a reason to meet Roy Castle Grin

jackstarb · 16/06/2011 19:33

If it's true & the same family - the new mum would be 11 Shock.

The girl in the artical had a son. The girl who give birth "if" its true could be any age.
