Guys,

saw this in SMH website in Australia. Absolutely awful, but I thought maybe to bring to people's attention as its so easy to forget to check bath temperature... granted this case is very extreme

www.smh.com.au/news/national/mother-jailed-over-scalding-death-of-baby-daughter/2005/11/18/1132016981417.html

Sorry not very cheerful. But, if it can result in people being more aware, then maybe its worth it?

Thanks

Kate

omg that's awful!
although, i don't think it's really about checking bath temp per se.... the woman was probably on drugs etc and had no idea what she was doing...

i mean, you don't accidently run a scalding hot bath do you?

LadyTophamHatt · 18/11/2005 13:11

here

NotQuiteCockney · 18/11/2005 13:11

And if you do, you notice when you put the kid in, right away, take them out, cool them down, and then get medical attention.

This is a pretty severe case. I suspect none of us are boiling our kids, then taking them out in a pram to prostitute ourselves and buy drugs.

starlover · 18/11/2005 13:13

quite NQC!

LadyTophamHatt · 18/11/2005 13:16

Ditto NQC

(didn't read it before doing the lionk)

CarolinaMoon · 18/11/2005 13:19

what a horrific story

thought it was particularly shocking that the dad "was reluctant to alert authorities [after the baby had been scalded] because he "didn't want any trouble with welfare on her [the mother's] back"."

if only they had been

reminder!

what, not to take crack when bathing your baby dd

ok, thanks for that

CarolinaMoon · 18/11/2005 14:00

Enid . Similarly, it's best not to put a meat cleaver in your baby's pram when she's in it.

kateandfelicity · 18/11/2005 15:29

Enid...
well, it appears that there are a few f*ckwits around who just may need reminding of this... not MN'ers obviously.

I posted a few weeks ago about my friends ds (3.5yrs) who jumped into the bath before she had put the cold in. He spent 2 weeks in Yorkhill with serious burns to his feet and lower legs. He has thankfully just been given the all clear for no more follow up appointments.

Marina · 18/11/2005 15:33

Glad he is fully recovered SackAche

starlover · 18/11/2005 16:50

like who k&f? the woman herself? people who are on drugs have NO idea what they are doing and do not think rationally anyway... i don't think that your post here is going to make any difference to them!

WickedWestCountryLass · 18/11/2005 20:54

God, I feel sick, that poor child tears

calebsmum · 19/11/2005 19:40

that poor poor baby. Should burn that woman at the stake

intergalacticwalrus · 19/11/2005 19:44

That is an awful story. There are some sick f*ckers about.
