Bouncy Castle accident

Seem to have heard a few of these recently. This one happened in Whitby, North Yorkshire. Hope all the children recover ok!

So sad, hope they are all ok. A little girl in Irl was killed on one a few weeks ago. Something so simple yet so dangerous.
My BIL bought one for my DC and DP and Dad returned it to shop for a refund both are paramedics and bouncy castles and trampolines are banned in my house, cue and deprived yet unharmed DC.

Are bouncy castles the new trampolines in accident terms? Yikes!

But there's also an argument which says, why the bloody hell would parents let their children on something like that in high winds?

That is the problem WMMC, you can now just buy them and have them, people are just owning them putting them up and not securing them to the ground, no idea how to ensure safety etc that they seem to have caused a rise in accidents.

Don't they still have the sticky licences and inspection things on the side? You need public liability insurance surely? Plus of course you would need to show that you have taken steps to avoid being found guilty on negligence if anyone fell off, was blown off.

Also why would anyone want to own such a monstrosity? It's one thing hiring one for a birthday party, but really, honestly, people want the blinking things in their sheds?

I think it's strange there seems to have been an increase in these stories recently, but the simple explanation might just be the freaky weather that is happening all over the World right now. It's been warm but with severe winds so you might not notice something till too late. In this particular case the castle was actually tethered to the ground. But Whitby is a Coastal town of course, so I can imagine some gusts of Coastal wind would cause an accident. There was the other case of the poor young girl in Ireland, and there has been some incidents in America too. Quite worrying really. We have had bouncy castles at my daughter's parties, but they have always been inside, at our local Leisure Centre. My main worry up till now was that there might be some bumped heads from kids smashing into eachother. Bet those poor little kids were so scared. Doesn't bear thinking about!
