There are currently proposals to close some of the ChildLine bases, including the ChildLine South West base in Exeter. The NSPCC says that it is trying to provide a more efficient and effective service.
The base's 98 volunteers are trying to put forward a realistic case against its closure by offering alternatives that will save money, without a considerable loss of money and experience that would come from losing the base.
This base is the only base in the South West of England, and if it closes the nearest ChildLine representation would be Birmingham or London. The volunteers feel removing Childline from the South West and losing it's ability to both support young people and raise considerable amounts of funding in the area is a grave mistake.
