Wish I could spell armastice (I think that's right?)
World war one. A couple of cousins had a row and a load of teenage Brits died fighting over a couple of miles of marshland.
World war two. A fascist dictator tried to invade The British Isles and a lot people died trying to protect their home from invasion.
Iraq wars one and two. Political and financial. No good reasons for anyone to die IMHO. And the 'evil dictator' stuff doesn't do it for me either. Mugabe (amongst others) is an evil dictator and I don't see anyone doing much about him.

No offence intended to anyone who has lost a loved one in Iraq. I just wonder why they were sacrificed.

Well, dh was in both. Following the first a kuwaiti man rushed up to him, hugged him and thanked him from freeing in his family from a brutal maniac and thrust a kuwaiti flag into hd's hands. We still have it is a matter of fact. For him gulf was 1 was not political or finacial. Gulf was 2 is a different thing I think

Well said bubble, I doubt anyone with relatives serving in this current "war" would take offence. In WWI, II and the first Gulf war there was a reason to fight, not a bunch of lies and underlying greed.

No wonder the families of soldiers who have died in this war are so upset. I think in years to come this war will be a stain on the conscience of the West and the deaths of our soldiers an even greater waste. And I think it is armistice? and waiting for the correct answer!
