Is he correct? And should atheist be tolerant of religion?

'What is the "esoteric sense" of the term "progressive", then?'

That would be telling. It is esoteric, because the progressives want it to remain hidden from the masses. Let's just say it is not pleasant.

CoteDAzur · 26/04/2011 11:35

"I think we are on the same side - against all mumbo jumbo, against the plans of the progressives. If Galileo was here today, he would undoubtedly join us."

And I think you are seriously deluded.

Do you know when your Church finally realized that Galileo was right and they were so obviously wrong? 1990! That is how long it took your holy men to realize that the Sun is in the center of Solar System, rather than the Earth Shock

CoteDAzur · 26/04/2011 11:36

What on earth are you talking about, claig?

Do you even know what the words "progressive" and "esoteric" mean in the English language?

claig · 26/04/2011 11:38

I am not a Catholic, and I don't go to church. But I believe in God. I don't believe everything that the Pope says. I think he may possibly believe in climate catastrophe too.

claig · 26/04/2011 11:39

'Do you even know what the words "progressive" and "esoteric" mean in the English language?'

Hablo espanol. No comprendo. Just like Manuel, "I know nothing".

claig · 26/04/2011 11:41

English is only my mother tongue. I don't think it is yours. But I defer to you, because you probably know more English, since you probably didn't receive the progressive education that we received in England.

Did clag just make a funny there?

CoteDAzur · 26/04/2011 11:54

Having English as your mother tongue does not give you creative license with the language.

Maybe you can start by explaining what you mean by "progressive", because it doesn't look like you mean "favoring or promoting progress".

I am beginning to wonder if Claig is some kind of performance artist?

I haven't seen he/she on such a roll for quite some time.

'I am beginning to wonder if Claig is some kind of performance artist?

Did you miss the thread on satanism in music? That was an absolute classic.

claig · 26/04/2011 11:57

If I remember rightly, a few progressives probably got a mention there too.

bemybebe · 26/04/2011 12:01

I did not read about satanism in music. I usually stay well away from severe cases.

claig · 26/04/2011 12:02

'Maybe you can start by explaining what you mean by "progressive"'

It's not what they say that counts, it's what they do. Big Brother says he loves you. But Winston knew it wasn't true. By their deeds you shall know them. The proof of the progressive pudding is in the eating, and it may make you sick.

CoteDAzur · 26/04/2011 12:04

Is this what you native speakers of English would call "rambling"?

claig · 26/04/2011 12:04

'I did not read about satanism in music. I usually stay well away from severe cases.'

That's probably just as well, bemybebe. It's not a pleasant subject, progressivism never is.

claig · 26/04/2011 12:06

'Is this what you native speakers of English would call "rambling"?'

No, rambling is what we call the speeches of Neil Kinnock and Gordon Brown.

CoteDAzur · 26/04/2011 12:12

If anyone understands what claig is on about, could she summarize it for the rest of us so we can all nod politely and move back to the subject of the thread?

claig · 26/04/2011 12:14

What so you can get back to insulting women who choose to wear burqas?

bemybebe · 26/04/2011 12:16

Ffs, I think it is time to jump off this thread.

CoteDAzur · 26/04/2011 12:38

I'm right behind you bemybebe.

< moves slowly away from the mad lady >

claig · 26/04/2011 12:52

I must admit, I couldn't read all your posts. They made me feel sick. You took pleasure in using terms like "bin liners" to describe garments that people wear in following their faith. Just because I don't choose to wear such garments, doesn't give me the right to insult those who do, by using derogatory language such as "bin liners". It's about respect for the choices of others. It is about tolerance. I wouldn't wear a burqa, but equally I wouldn't insult someone who does.

bemybebe · 26/04/2011 13:13

claig, french burka/niqab ban it is a very difficult subject. you should not trivialize it.

I hope you realize that not all choices in life are valid. one does not have the right to abuse and others do not have to tolerate abuse. people who may be genuinely choosing to wear burka and come on MN to defend this choice are perfectly within their rights to do so, some other women are forced to wear it and are not given the priviledge to express their views on MN.

as a weapon of abuse, i also refer to burka as a bin liner. this is what they are in my view. an allegory for the position women hold in that mentality.

bemybebe · 26/04/2011 13:15

claig, you are master of provocation, i give it to you
