very sad - my two absolutely love watching it :(

Portoeufino · 19/04/2011 23:01

Very sad. I am old and she was a big part of my tv experience as a child.

edam · 19/04/2011 23:01

There's another much longer thread in Telly Addicts (just in case anyone thought this was rather sparse).

I absolutely loved Elisabeth Sladen - when I was a little kid Sarah Jane Smith was my absolute heroine and I wanted to be her so much (her or Jodie Foster!). Even when I was six, I knew that I wanted to be a fearless adventurer like her, travelling in space - I thought the character was such a great role model, particularly at that time in television history.

I was so pleased that she came back into television in a big way with the new Dr Who episodes and then Sarah Jane Adventures. I'm embarrassed to admit I had a little weep earlier when I found out Sad

Don't be embarrassed, Cloudbase, dh and I got a little teary-eyed too.

Ripeberry · 20/04/2011 01:10

Cloud, another one here. Just hope she did not suffer Sad

Very sad but maybe that was why she was so thin - always thought she was unnaturally thin....RIP

I've just told my 10 year-old who's a massive fan of all the Dr Who stuff, especially S-J Adventures. Felt almost like telling him about a death in the family. Terribly sad thing to happen.

just to say sorry i was so shocked when i heard this I naturally checked the in the news thread as it was breaking news; was a bit shocked so I didnt get to see/check if another thread had been started (which it had)

sorry all

When I told my dcs it also felt like telling them about someone they actually 'knew'. I hope she knew how loved she was by her young fans and how much she was held in high regard by them in her lifetime.

I didnt know her, but and this might sound weird, felt a connection because of her name which means a lot to me personally for various reasons. Added to that Ive always loved doctor who, mine being tom baker, so am very saddened to hear that she has died at what is rather a young age really.

RIP, you have touched us and will be remembered, what better remembrance can you ask for?
