Thoughts, anyone?

I think some people should refrain from talking to the press. :) It's probably true that MM appeals to a certain market, both at home and abroad, that like their dramas to be 'period', chocolate-box quaint and nothing like real life. Which is OK because we have other audiences for dramas which are gritty, edgy and also nothing like real life. There are no ethnic minorities in MM for the same reason as there's no-one over 30 in Hollyoaks... image.

All that's wrong is for the producer to let the cat out of the bag.

Chil1234 you make a good point. We know for a fact it's nothing like real life ....come on, how many 'quaint English villages' do you know that have a murder every week?!!!

The whole thing is ridiculous and does nothing more than stir up bad feeling and arguments. I hate it when the media highlight stuff like this.

Interesting responses - I'm inclined to agree. I'm reminded of Inspector Morse, which had much the same demographic breakdown and was similarly successful (and marketable overseas).

More propaganda in the media aimed at inciting and fueling racial hatred. I don't know any ethnic minority that watches MM (quite a few love The Archers), and they certainly do not care whether they are represented in it or not. As it happens, they have real issues to worry about.
