  1. What should I do when buying live chickens? When buying live chickens, try not to touch them or their droppings. Do not blow at their bottoms. If you have touched a chicken, wash your hands thoroughly with liquid soap and water.

To see whether it's healthy. Also, in a young chicken, to see whether it's male or female.

Alternatively, out of sheer kinkiness.
