Cover up that embarrassing call
By Helen Nugent

UNFAITHFUL spouses afraid of being caught out by their mobile phone records can breathe a sigh of relief: a product has been launched that automatically removes all traces of embarrassing calls.

Alibitel, a mobile software supplier, says that its Call Erasing product enables users to block unwanted incoming calls from selected numbers or anonymous callers when they are with partners or relatives, by giving a busy signal.

It allows mobile owners to delete preselected phone numbers and contact details from their incoming, outgoing and missed calls lists.

Users would be able to substitute numbers with others of their choice and keep details of blocked or private calls in a separate secure private log.

A recent mobile phone survey showed that two thirds of owners checked their partner?s phone records.

Nearly half of the respondents said they did it secretly.

The software, which costs £6.95, works on Nokia 3230, 6260, 6600, 6620, 6630, 6670, 6681, 6682, 7610 and N90 phones as well as the Panasonic X700 and X800.

The London-based company claims that the product will mean an end to coming up with spur-of-the-moment explanations to awkward questions such as: ?Darling, did I hear you make a call last night just before you came to bed??
