Man banned from having sex

A man with a low iq has been banned from having sex on the grounds that he doesn't have the mental capacity to give consent. He was in a sexual relationship with someone in his care home.

What do you think? Invasion of privacy and right to a private life or sensible protection and care?

WTF?!?

That seems unreal.

It might help if people actually read Mostyn J?s judgment (as opposed to a badly written article in the Daily Mail which was itself a rip off of a badly written article in the Daily Telegraph) in this case before writing about it. A copy of the judgment can be found here: www.bailii.org/ew/cases/EWHC/COP/2011/101.html
When you read the judgment, you?ll discover that the man has not been banned from having sex. The local authority that cares for him has been instructed to put in place measures to prevent him from having sex. This is for his protection and for that of, for example, the 9 and 10 year old girls he touched up. The orders the court made are temporary and will be reviewed in 9 months once sex education work has been done with him.

I read it in the DT and was hoping there was more to it than that.

Sadly, the world seems to be picking up on the DM story (which isn't worth the paper it's written on) which appears to be written as part of their ongoing campaigns against local authorities and the judiciary.

Ah I see thanks.

Christ. Yes should have read more than just the dt link I posted. Thank you for the clarification

That's useful. I had initially only read the DT version so GH's has clarified things.

Sadly, my repeated posts on the DM website aren't getting through the moderation process. I wonder why rolls eyes
