Phillip Lawrence killer prepared for release.

This person has served just 9 years for killing the headmaster, Phillip Lawrence. Am I going mad. He was given life. Well he is laughing as his (the killer)life has just begun, he is 25. What a crock of shite. Am really angry

Like all lifers, he'll be out on licence and can be pulled back in at any time if he causes any trouble. I imagine he'll have a tough time getting a job or sorting out a normal life.

It must be very hard for Philip Lawrence's family.

I'm from the States, and whilst I do NOT support the death penalty, I am still continually stunned by the light sentences people get for such heinous crimes as first-degree or even capital murder, rape, attempted murder, etc.

Shocking and a real insult not only to the victims but also to law-abiding society.

I've never understood why crimes against property are sentenced much more heavily than crimes against people. Kidnap a child - a few years if anything. Rob a business - ten years in jail.

I'm all in favour of jailing people guilty of robbery with violence or threats of violence, but people who attack other people rather than going after property seem to be less harshly treated for some very bizarre reason I really don't understand.

There was a case I read about in my local paper where a man had been found guilty of sexually assaulting a child but received a very light penalty because the judge described it as a 'lapse' in someone of previously of good character. A lapse, FFS! Now someone else has come forward to say actually, he attacked me too - only came forward after reading about sentence.
