Help Save our Lollipop People

Have you heard the news from several counties in the UK with regards to Lollipop People? There are a number of county councils who are voting to lay off ALL their school crossing patrols in order to save money.
In the case of Dorset County Council, this will save an estimated £200,00.00 a year, yet the same county is proposing spending 50million on renovating their offices!!!
I, for one believe that this is a shameful decision for them to make. The safety of our children should be of paramount importance and they are letting us all down.
They say that volunteers should carry this service out instead. They are living in a dream world if they believe that volunteers will committ to a job with such huge responsibilty and be able to volunteer on such a regular basis. The alternative, they say, is for schools to pay for them themselves. This will not happen as they simply can't afford them.
If councils get away with this decision then other counties will follow. Your county could be next.
I am keen to hear what others think of this situation and if you feel as I do then please follow the links below and sign our petition to add your support.
Many thanks.
