How very sad.

RTKMonherBroomstick · 04/10/2005 10:01

oh no

I grew up with the two ronnies

my fav sketch was the 4 candles/fork handles

And the phantom rasberry blower

RTKMonherBroomstick · 04/10/2005 10:04

I hope they show some Porridge or open all hours

JoolsToo · 04/10/2005 10:06

Oh how sad - I didn't know!

How old was he?

Lonelywitch · 04/10/2005 10:07

76

Jenum71 · 04/10/2005 10:58

I am so upset about this!

I also grew up with the 2 Ronnies! and Ronnie Barker always reminded me of my dad (dont really know why!?)

Yeah my fave too has to be the fork handles sketch! So funny!

We have lost a true legend!

Distelsspirit · 04/10/2005 11:04

My brother and I used to fall about laughing with the Phantom Raspberry blower.

This is such sad news .

mamaoftwo · 04/10/2005 11:23

Me too. They don't make them like that any more do they? Good clean family humour.

Another for the fork handles sketch, and the hyroglithics one (however you spell it!)

Jenum71 · 04/10/2005 11:58

Exactly Mama! Just goes to show - it doesnt have to be rude to be funny!

The 2 Ronnies always make me think of christmas - was a bit of a tradition to watch them over christmas - just like Morcambe and Wise R.I.P.

I wonder what our kids will remember from the TV at christmas?!

munz · 04/10/2005 12:05

I absolutly love watching him he's so funny - yes it is xmas u think of him - althou he's on UK gold a lot with porrige weekend/ open all hours.

DH loves that programme as RB makes him feel like he's back home in the north! lol.

LadyFioOfTipton · 04/10/2005 12:08

what a shame

mommie · 04/10/2005 12:10

there was a great 'two ronnies' sketch on the radio this morning.....

Ronnie Barker (in mock Red Indian accent): "How! I am Hiawatha and he (Ronnie Corbett) is Lower Watha." Made me laugh all the way into work.

QueenOfQuotes · 04/10/2005 13:10

aww - just seen this on the news, very sad

doormat · 04/10/2005 13:11

how sad, he was very funny

marthamoo · 04/10/2005 13:14

How sad. I saw him on one of those award programmes recently - they gave him a Lifetime Achievement one iirc - and he did look very old and frail

Jenum71 · 04/10/2005 13:16

yeah I thought that too Marthamoo - bless him.

I am glad he did that last 2 Ronnies series though.

whimsywhoo · 04/10/2005 13:20

Oh no!
How very sad. I loved porridge and open all hour. I always think of him when ds is watching come outside, with nurse gladys.

Jenum71 · 04/10/2005 13:22

Yeah me too Whimsywhoo lol!

Such a funny man!

bran · 04/10/2005 13:55

H was a very, very funny man, and I think funniest when he was at his darkest (or perhaps that's just my dark sense of humour). Am than people think the Two Ronnies was clean though, I think you may have missed quite a few of the jokes, they had more double entendres than Julian Clary.

Jenum71 · 04/10/2005 14:31

They may have had a few double entendres but they were put across in a funny way without being crude or anything like that!

I know there were a lot of innuendos but I guess only rude if you had a dirty mind

Tbh I probably did miss most of their jokes being a young innocent little girl! Not so now!

mamaoftwo · 04/10/2005 17:41

Oh my goodness I knew I recognised aunt mabel in come outside from somewhere, and that's it, she was nurse Gladys!!!

tallulah · 04/10/2005 18:02

Really shocked and upset to hear this news.
