So many to choose from... and depends how you define 'best'. Chilean miner rescue was certainly heartwarming and gripping at the same time. The Raol Moat hunt was gripping in a different way. Gordon Brown being caught out bad-mouthing a voter was deliciously toe-curling and watching him and his minions exit Downing Street shortly afterwards was very satisfying! The Cumbrian gun rampage in June had that unique contrast of peaceful, nothing-ever-happens setting and horrifying, senseless death. I have a soft spot for the bloke that blagued his way into the England dressing room during the World Cup. That unpronounceable volcano produced some of the best news pics of 2010 and succeeding in making air-travel more challenging again! The Large Hadron Collider started... stopped... started... stopped... and didn't implode the universe after all (shucks).
