Hi all I am just posting this in order to keep Joannes name in the public domain- This case is very mysterious and so far the police have no real leads although her parents suspect she has been abducted!

The link is below-

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1341106/Distraught-parents-Jo-Yeates-plead-help-finding-missing-architect-daughter.html

Hopefully someone has the information needed to bring Joanna hope safe and well- her parents are distraught!

Bloody hell! What total disrespect to a murdered girl is this!

Shut the fuck up, women. You're a disgrace.

PussinJimmyChoos · 28/12/2010 21:19

Well said Desi

Think people are forgetting a woman has lost her life here

bibbitybobbitysantahat · 28/12/2010 21:20

Oh, so the fact that the flat hadn't been tidied in readiness for their party is what immediately made her parents think she had been abducted?

bibbitybobbitysantahat · 28/12/2010 21:21

Also, Romsey is quite a long way from Bristol. Did they get there before the Police?

Summerbird73 · 28/12/2010 21:28
Sad

RIP Joanna

PercyPigPie · 28/12/2010 21:47

mrsoo7 that would make perfect sense. It would explain why no-one say a body being put in the car presumably, why the cat was so hungry and why the pizza was missing.

So would have been someone she knew in order that they knew it was safe to drop off her things.

perfectstorm · 28/12/2010 21:47

Bibbitybobbity, they said that was one factor, but that there were others which they coudn't discuss on police advice. They were sure within half an hour that she'd been taken, and not voluntarily.

It just makes you look at your own child and your heart constrict, doesn't it. I remember when the John Venables thing all kicked off, and it is so much harder to read about these things when you're a parent. It's a lifelong hostage to fortune. Those poor parents. Just unbearable. They must have been so proud of her - bright, pretty, built a good life for herself, and suddenly gone. I hope time means they can remember her as she lived, rather than how she died, at least.

winnybella · 28/12/2010 21:51

The Guardian is now saying that the police believe she knew her killer.

amijee · 28/12/2010 21:56

I have to say that if anyone has more information than the rest of us ( either through the police or family/friends) then I think it is a tad inappropriate/unprofessional to be speculating on these forums.

Desiderata · 28/12/2010 21:57

She was strangled, which is generally a crime of passion. I have no doubt that she knew her killer. She must have let him in.

Either way, we shall await the evidence. I think this case will be solved pretty sharpish.

bibbitybobbitysantahat · 28/12/2010 22:01

I don't think anyone has been disrespectful of the fact that a young woman has lost her life on this thread, btw. To suggest that people on Mumsnet should not discuss this significant news story is rather unrealistic. If there was silence on Mumsnet about this horrific crime, it would be rather an elephant in the room.

People are not being salacious or ghoulish or freakish. They are genuinely concerned and hope that the Police find out what happened asap. Or at least I am.

Desiderata · 28/12/2010 22:02

I agree, bib, but an argument broke out, and it got personal at a time when it was inappropriate.

bibbitybobbitysantahat · 28/12/2010 22:04

Oh, I see, yes that was very unseemly.

Desiderata · 28/12/2010 22:04

The poor lass was found in my village. We all wish we could have done more.

perfectstorm · 28/12/2010 22:16

I can't imagine they would be telling people there is no increased risk to the general public if they didn't think she knew her killer, no. Especially so close to New Year's Eve.

Desiderata I'm sorry to hear that.

navyeyelasH · 28/12/2010 22:20

so do you all think the area is safe? I live not 5 mins away, I'm 27 and have a blonde bob. I also live alone so I'm slightly nervous at the mo - I usually go for a run in the evening around the downs but I'm not sure if I should be going now?

A taxi driver yesterday even said I look like Joanna yesterday which freaked me out mightily!

winnybella · 28/12/2010 22:34

here

SleightiesChick · 28/12/2010 22:57

I would bet that the police privately have a pretty good idea who has killed her, but are still working towards being able to prove it.

'may' have known killer - this is still hedging their bets, though again it seems pretty likely to me she will have done.

navyeyelash given the above, I don't personally think you're at risk just because of your appearance, location etc. Having said that, the stakes are pretty high if I'm wrong. IMO I'd give the run a miss for a bit if only because you will be nervous and looking over your shoulder the whole time.

navyeyelasH · 28/12/2010 23:00

Thank you winnybella, I think I'll try and move my run to earlier in the evening just to be cautious. Hopefully they will find out who is responsible soon enough, RIP Joanna, my thoughts are with your friends and family.

twolittlekings · 29/12/2010 00:08

I am sorry for the family of Joanna and think what has happened is truly terrible. Having read this thread a few hours ago and come back to it I do have to say that I was quite surprised that someone on here was purporting to know more about the case than everyone else and it did appear to be bragging and distasteful. I am not judging or spoiling for a fight but also the person that even dared to say this was shot down in flames. I actually happen to also think it was inappropriate. I am not here to troll or antagonise I just wanted to say how I feel.

MummieHunnie · 29/12/2010 03:31

It looks like Joanna bought a bottle of cider also on her way home and it was half drunk in her falt. The boyfriend went to visit his brother and his brothers wife on the Friday morning, Joanna was alive in the evening. This is according to the Sun online! So I will have to eat my hat by the looks of things. When I am wrong I say I am wrong!

tomorrowsanotherday · 29/12/2010 09:30

Two bottles of cider I heard.
Wonder why this wasn't mentioned before..
She stopped off at Bargain Booze after Tesco.

SlartyBartFast · 29/12/2010 09:31

well the information is for the police to their work, not us, not the media, to solve the crime.

OrangeCountyStrip · 29/12/2010 09:42

Does anyone even drink cider any more? Unless they live in a tent and have a dog on a bit of rope.

Well heeled professionals drink other stuff, as a rule - surely.

Really odd.

mrsoo7 · 29/12/2010 09:44

Why are some bloggers on here getting so indignant about the speculative comments from other s concerning Joanna?s murder? Isn?t the whole nation currently talking, blogging, reading, writing and watching TV news bulletins about how the poor girl met her end, and all very aware and respectful of Joanna?s family?s feelings in their comments. I don?t consider any comments made on here cruel, unkind or aimed at upsetting Joanna?s family directly, however I do consider that blogs such as these help us as human beings come to terms with such horrific and evil events that appear to happen all too frequently in our society these days.
