I once heard that there was a million dollar prize up for grabs for the first person to identify the cause of pre-eclampsia. Wonder if it's true? Sounds like a treatment isn't imminent but it's good news nevertheless.

Hmmmn, to me it doesn't answer "cause" - only "early identification" and physical attributes.

I have read a paper which suggests it's an immune response (to dad/baby DNA) in some women - which goes a way to explain why a woman who's had it once is more likely to have it when carrying the child of a new partner.

Mind you, the NHS will say it's obesity-related every single time.
