Reduce Health and Safety Burden

Whilst it's probably not the most pressing issue of the moment, I think this is another welcome sign - like the scrapping of the silly ID card scheme - that the oppressive nanny-state screw-turning of the last 13 years is gradually lifting. The boom in 'no win no fee' lawyers offering to sue on your behalf is also being scrutinised.

The problem is that when you read the regulations they are sensible and are clearly there to protect employees and members of the public. However exactly because of the claims culture councils and employers are terrified of getting sued so they over react and blame it on health and safety. "I can't do that Health and Safety have banned it" etc. (You'll never ever find a piece of legislation that says you have to wear goggles to play conkers.)

Its not health and safety that stop things its scared managers and serial claimers. Before no win no fee you never got any of this. So don't stop health and safety laws, stop no win no fee.
