She is going to be on the news in a minute. She is still annoying.

I hate the way she is reported as being soley responsible for Peter's death. Last time I heard, she wasn't the one inflicting pain on him

It was a systematic problem, and although part of the system, she did not build the system.

Agree with lady

I think she has been singled out. There were multiple agencies that could/should have done more. At the end of the day though the blame lies solely with the scum who abused and ultimately killed him.

She enjoyed the prestige and wage that came with her role but starts moaning when she realised that yes, the buck did stop with her.Just what was her job exactly?

AnyFucker · 16/09/2010 22:10

oh, I don't believe she should take sole blame

the abusers have to live with that

but I do wish she would disappear

some of her comments are beyond arrogant and display a monumental lack of self-awareness and empathy

she just needs to go away...she has been removed from her post, so should really disappear from public consciousness, tbh

TwoIfBySea · 16/09/2010 22:33

I thought the reason that the department heads had such large wages was because the buck stopped with them? So this wasn't the case with her because...?

She doesn't really know the meaning of the word dignity or of shame. She really needs to take stock of the fact that a little boy died a horrible death and the "poor me" act will get no sympathy.

Callisto · 17/09/2010 08:25

She is truly awful and I wish she would just go away too. She appears to feel no guilt or remorse at all that Peter died on her watch. She must be amazingly arrogant and lacking in empathy.

Strewth - there must have been 10s or hundreds of baby killings (as there are about 2 a week in the UK) since Baby P - how many other Chief Execs have been fired?

S Shoesmith was destroyed by the demands for her sacking in the media, the pathetic MPs took up the cry (rather than doing their job) and the gormless public (as usual) followed along.

Evil parents will kill their children despite social workers etc etc.

Ms Shoesmith's error was not to collapse in a heap sobbing and begging forgiveness for something she never did. Instead, unfortunately, she told the truth. She had a good team doing their best but, in this case, it was not enough.

She does need to shut up. While I agree that there will always be children who die at the hands of the parents, it shouldn't be too much to expect that children who are already known to social services, and they were heavily involved with this little boy, should be much better protected. His back was broken for crying out loud and the last social worker to visit did not even lift him out of his high chair. He could have been saved if they had done their job properly. It's heartbreaking. That said, the useless doctor who failed to examine him properly was also a disgrace to her profession.

Is she still in line for a payout for unfair dismissal?
