You really need to include more information if you expect people to click a link. It could be anything.

It is ridiculous to give so little detail and expect people to click through to something I'm assuming is harrowing.

PerpetuallyAnnoyedByHeadlice · 13/09/2010 17:43

well,AFK, theres the proof that you just cannot please everyone!

My post contains a clear-enough-without-being-specific warning about the nature of the link - it is about children, some may find it distressing

Dont click if you dont want, but i have been less obvious because I have been flamed on here in the past for giving too much away in the title or OP, so that people CANNOT avoid the details.

So you put something like "relates to a child abuse case recently in the news" or "article on guardian website"...not just a sad face and 'here'

PerpetuallyAnnoyedByHeadlice · 13/09/2010 18:20

Oh come off it - "article on guardian website" tells you nothing about the potential for distressing some MNers!

I did not JUST put a sad face and "here" - the warning was ample IMO! And obviously its going to be about something "in the news" - thats the name of this board

what i put in the OP was perfectly OK and akin to many other threads I have seen on here - about baby P and others for example

I'd like to know whether others think the sentence is long enough given the nature of the crime, but wanted to shield those who read this board but would rather NOT read distressing stories about children. So I gave them the choice.

Eh?? Why are you having a pop AFK? It's not that difficult to gauge the general gist of the link to the story the OP is talking about?

AnyFuleKno · 13/09/2010 18:57

There have been no end of dodgy links on here lately. There is no indication in the thread title or the message as to what this is about. I for one would not be clicking on that link and judging by the lack of responses, not many other people have wanted to either.

But feel free, do what you want...what do I care

scurryfunge · 13/09/2010 19:02

I made the correct assumption about the link based on the OP'S title and first comments. Don't see what else it could be about.

Thugs, aren't they? The sentence seems light but obviously don't know all the facts.

jimblejambles · 13/09/2010 19:04

I have just seen this story on the news. I haven't clicked on the link as I don't want to know anymore details. You are right 2 years is not enough. I only hope those poor children are being looked after now and are young enough for this not to effect their lives.

PerpetuallyAnnoyedByHeadlice · 14/09/2010 13:48

thanks for the sensible replies - 2 years just seems so tiny, for what they did. Yes, I too hope the children make a full recovery, emotionally. Just cannot comprehend WHY people do this.

es,saw this earlier. they will be out very soon i would imagine¬!!

and AFK,no need to attempt to police the boards....we're adults!!

booyhoo · 14/09/2010 13:53

oh dear god, i am in tears. i feel sick after reading that. are they the parents of teh boys? how, just how, in their heads was that ever ok? and two years???? those poor poor babies. very Sad

LouMacca · 14/09/2010 13:56

Your right, two years is a absolute disgrace. I'm not a violent person but I sincerely hope that these two sick individuals get a good kicking in prison.

And oh thanks for the warning.
