Having lived in Thailand, it didn't surprise me. Animal abuse is rife, the one that annoyed and saddened me the most was the drugged tigers. If you visit a zoo or even just a fairground, there is inevitably a baby tiger who you can feed a bottle of milk to and have a photo taken with for 300 baht. I always refused. No wild animal is that subdued without being tranquilised.
