I read this, and must admit it brought a tear to my eye too.

I'm sure the baby must have been alive in some way, and it was a clinical error to pronounce him dead, (note that the doctor would not appear on the TV interview) but what a wonderful thing to think that his mother could have brought him back to life with her warmth and cuddles.

To go from utter despair and heartbreak, to joy and hope like that - unspeakably brilliant. What a true miracle Jamie is.

Lovely story. There is a book called 'Call the midwife' about a midwife who worked in the 1950s in London's east end. In that they describe a baby who was premature and born at home and the mother would not let the baby be taken from her to be treated at hospital she kept him close to her for days and fed him drops of her milk and the baby thrived and survived. Jenny Worth the midwife in the book believes if it wasn't for that mother's instinct the baby would not have survived.

This is an amazing story but I really feel for any woman who has been through similar and is now thinking "If only I did the kangaroo care thing maybe ....."

yes I thought that too travelling wilbury, would hate anyone to feel as if they had not given their baby the best chance, impossible to know. Maybe it is a one off miracle, maybe there is more to be discovered about the kangaroo theory. Maybe worth trying though.

I am glad it wasn't just me POFAKKED , I did feel like I was putting a big old downer on what should be a happy thread .

But I suppose what-if's are a normal, if tormenting, part of grief.
