sky news link

No idea if he's innocent or not but how awful for him if he is innocent and has been in prison all this time. Does seem odd though that the silencer for the gun was found in a cupboard with his sister's blood on it - he says it was his sister that did all the killings but she couldn't have shot herself and then put the silencer in the cupboard. I take it the police could have eliminated the chance of the blood coming from a previous injury rather than the fatal one?

his team are arguing it may not be her blood.
The phone log doesn't prove he's innocent, though, as he could have made the first call pretending to be his dad then driven back to his own house and made the second.

I find it hard to believe that evidence has surfaced some 25 years after the event.

According to this article
a police phone log of a telephone call allegedly made by Bambers father has suddenly surfaced . However, if you look at the phone log, about half way down on the left, it clearly has a court evidence stamp, which means it was used as evidence in court at the time

Anyway, didn't he confess to the killings to his girlfriend?

stripeyknickersspottysocks · 05/08/2010 17:14

I think the girlfriend said that he'd said he was going to hire a hitman for 2k but claimed it was a throwaway comment. This had been said before the incident not afterwards.

just because it has a court stamp on it - does it mean that the evidence was seen or heard by the jury?

As I thought that this first telephone call wasn't heard by the jury and that was the problem

as for the phone call -both of them being made by bamber - well wouldn't you be able to get a proff to listen to the tape and clarify whether it was the smae man talking or not?

I would be interested to see what would happen to the estate that other family members inherited if this second appeal was positive and he was found innocent - would they have to then give up the estate that went to them?

sethstarkaddersmum · 05/08/2010 17:32

do tapes still exist? were calls to the police even routinely taped 25 years ago?

This was such a weird case.
Remember it all happening so clearly.
