Canal closed due to low level of water.

It could only happen in Britain.

A stretch of the Leeds/Liverpool canal is closed due to lack of water!!

And I am sitting in Manchester looking out of the window. I can barely see outside because of all the rain that is falling down.

Do you think it is the wrong kind of rain falling?

Someone must have left the plug out!
Unless I'm completely going doo-laley, havent you had far more of your fair share of rain up there recently?

LordPanofthePeaks · 30/07/2010 19:10

All of the rain has gathered at one end of the canal, leaving the other end dangerously low. Sensible decision to close all of it.

Wow - tidal wave

LordPanofthePeaks · 31/07/2010 12:07

yes ineed - it's to do with the curvature of the earth.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 31/07/2010 15:38

having a roubd earth does have its issues, is not all plain sailing!

LordPanofthePeaks · 31/07/2010 15:48

issues that are often unrecognised.

Additionally, Yorkshire water is unlikely to barge it's way into Mersyside waterways, as it would receive a stern rebuke.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 31/07/2010 16:27

not like down here - water is really rude and just flows any which way without caring about the consequences

agedknees · 31/07/2010 20:34

No way would we want any Yorkshire water!! We might catch something.

Goodness! I live right by the Kennet and Avon and will be keeping my eye on it. What happened to all the boats??
