New job, paternity leave when our baby is born?

My partner started a new job 1 month ago and our baby is due in 2 months, so he would have only been working there 3 months when baby is born. He thinks you have to be working for 10 months To be entitled to paternity leave….. what will happen? Will he get sacked for taking 2 weeks off unpaid?

He won't be entitled to paternity leave or pay
He could ask for annual leave or unpaid leave

He needs to request it. He is not entitled to it.

My DH took unpaid leave for a week

He'll have to take it as unpaid or annual leave. He doesn't have sufficient service for paid pat leave.

When our dc were born 30 years ago my mother and MIL came to stay to help. No such thing as pat leave then.

He absolutely needs to talk to his boss about options for annual leave or unpaid leave.
