How do I go about this?

Hi everyone. Please can you advise me.

My child has biological fathers last name and now doesn't want it (child is now 11). He was Mis-treated by his biological father when he was an infant and he has not been in my child's life for 8 years now.

My child wants his last name to be my husbands who has raised him nearly his whole life.

Deep poll information says to change the last name, consent from all parties with parental responsibility is required.

Is there another way I can do this, as we haven't seen him for 8 years and also he will deny consent out of spite.

My child is often upset and it's frequently on their mind.

United Kingdom

Thank you

Need consent or possibly go through court to change it

What about hyphenating eg

First name old name- new name?

Would that require the same consent- you’re adding to it/ adapting rather than removing.
