I am very excited by this house.

However, there is a covenant on the planning permission (it's five years old).

"The residential accommodation within the live/work unit hereby permitted shall not be occupied other than by a household which includes at least one person who derives his/her sole or principal income from activities carried out within the employment space contained within the live/work unit."

Do does that mean I could work full time elsewhere and DH, could do occasional odd jobs from home, but using the workshop/office as a base?

What happens when we both retire? Would we need to sell? Or if (God forbid) DH the" worker" moved out, died or became too ill to work?

Are these kinds of covenants ever enforced and what would happen if we were found to be in breach?

Finally, and this may well be pie in the sky, there is an annex with a very large workshop and office. What are the chances of converting that to a holiday let (it would still be DH's "work")? DH wouldn't really need an office or a workshop for the kind of work he'd be doing, just somewhere to store tools and park his vehicle.

Obviously if we were to be thinking about it seriously we'd need to take legal advice but I'm wondering if I'm getting all excited about a pipe dream.

OK, I realise it was a bit niche but does anyone have any experience?
