Hello all

Back with the links in a mo

OP posts:

swan the ward closure seemed to go smoothly, although the ward is now full, so if anyone has a stroke before Monday there will be no bed for them! My last act of leadership before relinquishing my role was to take everyone to the pub for lunch .
Unfortunately my first act in my new team has been to call in sick . Luckily there are surplas staff at the moment.
Jugling work and kids is ok until someones ill, or not sleeping. Then it all goes to pot.

Circus camp sound fun!

grouchyoscar · 01/07/2010 15:49

Hello ALL

FLYing has stopped for the day, SIL picked me up from home and took me to the hospital. Dad is on oxygen, is seriously ill, has multiple organ failure and the next 72 hrs are the critical

So I have decamped to DBs house for the weekend so I'm nearer the infirmary

Morning .

Hope you're ok grouchy.

Thankfully DD slept ok (might have been the generous dose of medised). She is keep to go to school to be in her concert.

I have woken up feeling very bleugh . Am going to go to her concert then collapse.

wendyhappysmile · 02/07/2010 08:00

Morning everyone
Bright and early for me! Had a great night's sleep for once. Inset day here but my work cancelled so had already arranged for grandparents to take children out this morning - so I have some spare time. Feel a bit weird about it!

Yesterday my best friend from sixth form came over with her four girls - she lives in New Zealand and I haven't seen her for over 4 years! It was great to catch up and all the children played really nicely - they are coming back this afternoon. We haven't even spoken on the phone for about a year, we're hopeless but it was so lovely to see her. The time difference is a real hindrance I find to phoning, it's never the right time! Perhaps it will be easier to make an effort now we are back in touch.

Otherwise might phone my mum and take her out for coffee, and do the ironing and washing

I am wearing cropped jeans, just got a parcel of 9 pairs of maternity trousers off ebay - £25 what a bargain! So I don't have to wash and quickly wear anymore LOL
Have a good day all.

wendyhappysmile · 02/07/2010 08:02

scatty hope you're feeling better
grouchy hope you get through the day
swan LOL at you driving to get somewhere! Heaven forbid! I used to be scared of driving new places. The week after I gave birth to DS, I got in the car and drove all over the place, it was as if I had conquered child birth, what could be so scary ever again, now I am fearless about everything

dylsmum1998 · 02/07/2010 10:03

scattyspice · 02/07/2010 10:27

dyl our window cleaner started doing that, we told him to sling his hook 9now the windows are always dirty ).
wendy excellent bargain. Enjoy your day (don't fill it with boring jobs).

Concert was lovely, African songs and dancing . It has perked me up. DD looks very peeky though, hope she's ok. Have a headache and sore throat so going to loll about for a while.

dylsmum1998 · 02/07/2010 13:34

quick update while I try and decide whether or not to go for a swim before collecting dc

done today
watered plants
asda run
dc to school/nursery
tidied kitchen sides off
rubbish out
hoover
finish ironing I started yesterday
s&s bathrooms
mission

to do
clean bin
swim?

I made dd a dress using a very simple method the lady in the material shop told me last night, I added straps as the version she showed me was strapless. Am very pleased with how it looks, just gotta hope I guessed the measurements correctly, will see when dd gets home.
Now am off to clean the bin and try and make a decision!

swanriver · 02/07/2010 14:05

done
ds1 project and handed in - met one mother who said it had been hell getting her child to do anything, and another whose child like yours Dyls had done the entire project by herself on the computer cutting pasting filing editing printing And her mother couldn't even use the computer so even more impressive.

is there a middle way I ask on these blooming projects? Egg timer was a magnificent help.

alsodone
visit to child advisor for dd, with dd. q productive.
now searchign for scout kit, only need to find the scarf, a spongebag and money...
cool calm sanity

Wendy I love catchingup with old friends, sometimes you learn more more than with people you meet every day.

hope you are in the pool Dysl

dylsmum1998 · 02/07/2010 19:26

YAY go assertive me! window cleaner just calledto try and get me to pay. I stood my ground and said no I was not paying and not to come back.

Swan glad you got the project done.

I didn't go swimming as I decided to finish sewing the cushions I started the other week instead

OverflowingMum · 02/07/2010 20:09

evening all
sorry I have been AWOL
No excuse really...just life LOL

GO sorry to hear about your Dad, sending thoughts to you and your family

wendy youre sounding good. Hope youre holding up OK. Have posted belated books to Jas...oops sorry!

everyone-else helloo

bad busy here again, but nothing bad (well not major LOL)
had to go to Drs on Weds about finger I trapped in car door a few weeks ago...it was not looking good LOL He ended up ripping what was left of the nail off ooooooo
It REALLY hurt, and is still VVV sore
anyway...other than that, all good.

Have joined weight watchers on-line LOL only signed up on Mon...so far so good. Slightly dismayed when I found out just HOW overweight I was LOL...never mind, little steps and all that!

Busy weekend with school fairs (3!!) but also need to do desperate FLY catch up...

BBtomorrow

swanriver · 02/07/2010 21:23

OFM ouch 3 fairs ouch ouch, hope you can get away with some bargains rather than outlay

just back from scout camp train went well, and someone gave me a lift home, andhas organised a lift for ds1 back again!
On the other hand didn't get to read my book on the train or come back when twins were already in bed. They are still up playing puppies to a backdrop of football.

dylsmum1998 · 03/07/2010 11:03

OFM 3 fairs- not good, one can be expensive! and OUCH!! at your nail

Swan glad you got a lift home from scout

not sure what we are doing to day will see how the day goes, I plan on trying to do some thing with some energy for dc, either park/woods/family swim something along those lines.

done so far
tidy downstairs
hoover through
weed front and back gardens
make a skirt and matching bag for dd
alter ds's stained school shirt to short sleeeve, thus cutting off the stained elbows
washing out

to do;
ds swimming lesson
washing in
iron
put away dry washing
s&s bathroom
clean out car

think I am going to start by cleaning out the car

BBL x

swanriver · 03/07/2010 11:48

that sounds a calm relaxing morning Dyls how lovely to do sewing
and very focused to clean out car

I have abandoned house after very bad early start (kids up at 6.00 with faulty alarm clock ds2 has actually fallen asleep on [unhoovered]floor by 10.30 so tired was he.
Dd seems full of beans but not sure what tantrums day will bring when she gets up so early. Usually she wakes at 8.00 on schooldays.

Dd has gone to music with dh, I have managed I hour and half of gardening to try and defeat tense feelings. I keep trying to explain to dh how I can't seem to tackle the organisational side of life, and he keeps saying it's simple you do x y z. But that doesn't seem to work with me - faulty circuitry. I suppose he doesn't organise things here, just in office, possibly easier I think feel lingering resentment he never sorts out scout drop offs pickups.

anyway going to spend 15 mins before ds music putting laundry away.

And I think I need to take dcs out this pm so dh can watch football.

swanriver · 03/07/2010 11:54

Dh has just phoned to say The Music school has found my LOST COMMUNION BOOKS locked in some cupboard Too late, but I suppose can keep them to supplement late forgeries.

My sore throat is worse, and ds refusing to go to music, so afternoon has calmed down somewhat.

swanriver · 03/07/2010 11:57

ds has just been asking to see the red faces on mumsnet. He has just given me a big kiss and is now spraying me with Carex hand gel on my arms?

wendyhappysmile · 03/07/2010 12:47

swan sounds like you are a bit tense this morning, no wonder up at that time. I got woken at 7.15 by DD asking for conservatory open, that was early enough. Gardening always chills me out too.
OFM will let Jas know. Limit yourself to certain amount per fair. I always take £10 in change to our summer fayre, they are so expensive!
dyls sewing sounds lovely, am . Still have 1960s sewing machine in garage which I have no idea how to use . Have instructions, it's just so daunting, and have NEVER used one before! But am desperate to be able to!
Spent 45 mins looking for golf cap for DS, ranting about how DS had lost ANOTHER hat, it getting it allout of perspective. Before realising it's only a hat. must get perspective and just let things go, poor DC.
Off to castle with picnic

Jas · 03/07/2010 12:51

OFM Just in case you don't look on book thread any more, I have recieved the books. Thankyou so much

On a FLY related theme.....nothing going on here still. i get the emails and delete them. I don't get the time on here any more to post, and do miss you all alot.

I do lurk occasionally, and try and do some basic routines, but like OFM, rl gets in the way.

scattyspice · 03/07/2010 13:28

Don't worry jas just pop in when you can .

I gave DC £5 each (in pound coins)to spend at school fair. Amazing how tight they can be when they think its their money they're spending LOL.

Today dh has taken the kids to his folks (yay). I have been roaming the streets looking for birthday presents (July is like Dec for me). Doing well.

swan I read somewhere that women (well mainly mothers) have to adapt to constant interuptions so tend to complete tasks in small chunks, with several tasks on the go at a time. Hence the belief that women like multi tasking (they don't its just that there is no other way to get stuff done). Its exhausting though!

Right, off to find a skateboard.

OverflowingMum · 03/07/2010 15:09

afternoon all
swan told you Communion books would turn up after the event LOL Hope day is turning out OK despite early start.

wendy picnic sounds nice...enjoy

scatty good luck with present hunting

jas glad you got the books. So sorry for delay

dyls Hope you decided on something nice to do...I REALLY need to clean out my car...

right, well so far not too bad....
this morning DS1 to club and for haircut,
DD1 and 2 homework and reading all done yay!

Then to summer fair number 1 at DH school....
Thankfully was rubbish so didnt turn out expensive LOL got away with bringing back minimal ammounts of rubbish and all easily placated with 10p lollipops
(except ds1 who of course managed to wander off and spend £1 on a hot dog )

2 to go tomorrow LOL

battling through huge washing back log....
at least everything is drying well.
Trying hard to not let rest of chaos stress me out and make me grumpy with kids...
Must keep things in perspective as Wendy so rightly says!

have managed to loose 3 lbs since Mon though so that's cheering!

Right, need to go stare in Freezer in hope of dinner inspiration .....

BBL

swanriver · 03/07/2010 16:16

Off to castle with picnic LOL that's the stuff

£1 for hot dog OFM [shock} ours cost Much more, mind you the Thai takeaways v. good value!

just back from tkMAXng the shoe shortage! managed to buy children's summer shoes [odd assortment] and some shoes for me, as my feet are hurting. Just resisted buying ds1 a very good value winter anorak, but knew it would disappear before winter and add to CLUTTER factor.

all watching football except dd who has now discovered me. She wants to announce it is Germany versus Argentina. Germany are winning!

dylsmum1998 · 03/07/2010 18:27

we have had a lovely day we went to Eynsford to paddle in the stream- very cooling, then on to the park. very relaxing now watching film whilst waiting for dinner to cook.

Just had text from a friend she has been admitted to hosp. for her depression really don't know how to help her

scattyspice · 04/07/2010 10:02

dyl sounds like a nice day. your poor friend.

Unfortunately dds cold seems to have reached a new level, we've had another rough night. No plans today - just plodding on.
