Welcome to the June edition of the Fledgling Flyers where we are going to attempt to restore order in our houses, chatting as we go.

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

For those who are curious, these are the Babysteps, which we all hope will restore order in our homes and make our lives a little bit easier with lots of support (and chat, and wine, and a little more chat )

So please come and join us, old and new, from June 1st.

x-posted with pa who has already done the steps for me (you most definitely have not stepped on my toes....we are all part of the same fly family ).

pa has had the day from hell and is going to take some deep breaths, drink some wine and relax, hopefully. Sorry, you have had such a rubbish day but thanks for being fab and remembering the steps. Can you do tomorrow please.

Have a good evening everyone

Busy day here today so need a list to be organised enough to get it all done:

  • sort out stuff for School Assoc AGM tonight - done most of it just need to print a few things and try and pin down Chair to explain bank statements!!
  • Morning routine
  • Everyone up and out and bank and shopping on way back
  • Work
  • Pick up DS and go into town for face cream (vain emoticon needed but only one works, I've run out and face feels like Sahara )
  • Make pizza dough and tomato sauce for dinner
  • Make biscuits/brownies for AGM
  • Mission in DD's room
  • DD's friend here for tea hence pizza (was going to be other way round but Mum works for Council and has budget-cutting meeting that she thinks will take a loooooooong time)
  • plant up at least one hanging basket (only 3 more to go) and some seeds
  • AGM
  • Bed at some point - have feeling AGM might end in pub

Will try and catch up with everyone when I can - feetheart waves cloth in vague general direction of Flyers and disappears muttering lists

LinzerTorte · 16/06/2010 07:36

Morning all,

It's pouring with rain here today so I have the feeling DD1's school woodland walk may have to be postponed...

Am feeling easily distractable this morning now that I've got the deadline out of the way, so I need a list to keep me on track:

Work
Baby step
Find out which zone we're in this week
15 min decluttering in current zone
Piano lessons
Cake for friend's visit out of freezer ellie I would have been happy to step into the breach but it looks like PA has got it covered and I wouldn't want to deprive her of her gold star

PA As usual, I feel exhausted just reading about your day. How do you manage to always stay so upbeat? The clue is in the name, I feel.

DEM Impressive list yesterday - hope you managed the early night too.

Btw has anyone else seen that Chairmum has a labour thread and it sounds like things are starting to happen? Hope you don't mind me linking to your thread Chairmum but we're all very excited for you!

droitwichmummy · 16/06/2010 07:52

Beat me to it Linzer.

It's a work from home day for me - how much am I going to get done now?

elliepac · 16/06/2010 09:12

Chairmum's in labour and i'm going to miss it but for chairmum!

OP posts:
optimisticmumma · 16/06/2010 09:33

Morning all - just popped on to labour thread but no news yet! This is exciting...

Today is my day for getting organised but first having done a quick house rescue I'm having a coffee with my mum!!

Apart from that I have the Mount Everest of ironing to do so that should keep me busy.

Also osteopath at lunchtime - hoping to get this back well and truly cracked today!!

Didn't get off to a good start this morning. I was accused of providing a 'crap' lunch for my DDs trip to local farm/education centre thing - which was a fair point but she could have reminded me and then told I should know what she needs for said trip etc etc (she's 15). She didn't take too kindly to being told she should have organised herself and if she didn't have the right stuff that was tough!!

Now I feel (mildly) guilty....oh well...

See you all later...

swanriver · 16/06/2010 09:37

I love your lists Feetheart and DEM

PA you are doing more than the human frame allows?

off to dentist now, piano afternoon, then Scout/football theme continues

nick I am beginnng to see a link here between all the people who think they are not getting tidying done, yet are amazingly proactive in almost every other field of human endeavour - Feetheart, PA, SC Linzer and everybody really.
Linzer you must play the piano yourself, definitely. Very good example

CM hope you have lot sof love and support around you

desiretochange · 16/06/2010 11:43

Just having quick nosy on break from work and want to wish Chairmum best of luck today

swanriver · 16/06/2010 13:14

Optimistic, she should definitely have made her own lunch! And yours!I bet she wsa just feeling nervous and taking it out on you.

back from dentist, teeth aching but worst is that jaw ache (not from talking too much)horrible headache - trying to avoid thoughts of rest of today except positive airy ones.

optimisticmumma · 16/06/2010 22:27

Thanks for making me feel better PA. DD very tired but lovely when she came home...
Am excitedly waiting for a very old college friend to stay the night before we go for a spa day tomorrow (Birthday pressie from DH LAST YEAR!!whoops!)
Done quite well with the ironing - now looking like a hill rather than a mountain, cleaned DDs room so said college friend can sleep well and had a good session with osteopath.
I think my back may be fine very soon..
See you all tomorrow...xx

Toffeefudgecake · 16/06/2010 22:30

That's very happy news about Chairmum. Definitely no flying for her for the moment!

No housework going on here as I'm still working. Have the worst pain in my neck and I don't know what to do about it because I know it's caused by hours sitting at the computer, but I have to keep working. Sat with an ice pack on it this afternoon. Am lucky enough to have a great osteopath over the road who will see me on Friday, but it's annoying to have to spend the money.

My Mum says when she comes next week, she will do my Flylady routines for me! She is naturally very tidy and organised, unlike her daughter, but I think she's quite intrigued by it all.

Am just about keeping up with my routines, but didn't manage the mission today (I have a boxful of medicine in the cupboard - it would take me an hour to go through it all). Remembered to put a load of washing on, but have forgotten to put it in the drier - might do that now, as I'm going to be up late again. I almost went to bed and left the sink cluttered last night, but just couldn't do it, so spent 15 minutes washing up and shining my sink. I do like that shiny sink in the morning when I come down.

What is all the stuff on Flylady about 'getting dressed to laceup shoes', by the way? I never wear shoes in the house. And why laceups? What's it all about?

As for the bedtime babystep - great idea, as I'm always going to bed too late. However, it's not an option tonight.

Right, back to work. Goodnight all. Enjoy your first night with your lovely new baby, Chairmum.

feetheart · 16/06/2010 23:03

All I've caught up with is Chairmum's news - HUGE CONGRATULATIONS and what a beautiful name

need to see if I got all of list done:

  • sort out stuff for School Assoc AGM tonight - done
  • Morning routine - mostly done
  • Everyone up and out and bank and shopping on way back - done
  • Work - done
  • Pick up DS and go into town for face cream - done
  • Make pizza dough and tomato sauce for dinner - done
  • Make biscuits/brownies for AGM - done
  • Mission in DD's room - no
  • DD's friend here for tea hence pizza - done
  • plant up at least one hanging basket (only 3 more to go) and some seeds - no
  • AGM - done, I seem to be Chair
  • Bed at some point - have feeling AGM might end in pub. Didn't end in pub but all very positive. Still need to wind down a bit and then go to bed

Not bad at all!!
Hope everyone else has had a positive day. Will try and catch up tomorrow when things are quieter - if ever.

LinzerTorte · 17/06/2010 08:55

Morning all,

I've just finished my last piece of work and am now at risk of getting sidetracked if I don't make a list:

Morning routine
15 min decluttering in bathroom
Send invoice

That will do for now - it may not sound v. much, but I was relieved to read not long ago that other people's morning routines also take an hour or more. Besides, if I write a long list an urgent job is bound to arrive as soon as I've posted it...

PA For once, I managed an early night last night - so early, in fact, that I didn't see it was that day's baby step! Thanks for the round-up and links - is there any champagne left over for this evening?

OM Enjoy your spa day - sounds lovely!

Toffee I think the lace-up shoes are about being in the right frame of mind for flying and treating it professionally. I must admit that I don't own any lace-up shoes and just can't wear shoes in the house anyway. They are supposed to be lace-ups because they're more difficult to take off and it means you have (and I quote FlyLady here) "no excuse for not taking the trash out or putting that box of give-away stuff into the car". You can also call them your "home blessing shoes" if you see fit. (Or, like the majority of us I think, you can choose to ignore that particular baby step.)

And finally, many congratulations again to Chairmum - we will let you off flying for a while (but you will be allowed back on the thread for chatting purposes).

PositiveAttitude · 17/06/2010 08:59

Left over Champagne, Linzer??? In my books that doesn't exist, but if you insist we could always open another....
Well done on getting all the work done. Day of relaxation and doing whatever you want to do, me-thinks!

LinzerTorte · 17/06/2010 09:16

I suspected as much, PA. But another bottle this evening sounds like an excellent idea; I wouldn't want to miss out on the toast.

I actually feel quite motivated to get on with some flying this morning, having had so many shining-sink-only days recently - and something does need to be done about all the clutter... I'm going to throw caution to the wind and post an updated list, as DD1 is going to a friend's after school so I still have almost five child-free hours left (work permitting).

Morning routine doing
Washing WM on
Ironing
Fold and put away Monday's (?) washing
Send invoice
Send belated birthday card
Finish letter
Postcard to friend

Forgot to say earlier - ellie Hope you had a lovely time last night!
