How to defrost the freezer part of fridge-freezzer without turning off fridge?

We're renting our house so have no manual for fridge freezer. There appears to be just the 1 plug and no way to isolate the fridge from the freezer. So, how to I defrost the freezer without warming up the fridge?

Just keep the fridge door closed and it will stay cold. We've defrosted the freezer part of a fridge-freezer loads of times and the fridge stuff doesn't get spoiled or get warm as long as you avoid opening it whilst it's unplugged so that it remains sealed.

I haven't ever done this myself but I had a bit of a look online for you and apparently if you wrap your frozen contents up in newspaper and put them in the fridge, they should stay cold....keep the fridge door tightly closed overnight and the freezer door open.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. i guess I just leave towels on the floor to catch the water. It seems strange that you can't isolate the 2 units.
