sounds fishy to me.

brit gas say they need to change my Mothers meter every so often and now is the time!!
they want to fit a smart meter, sounds like they want to monitor things a bit too much.
Does any one have one? any comments please

Hi days. A smart meter is a meter that enables a reading to be taken without someone coming round, and give accurate readings, so the bills will reflect exactly what your mum uses, so I wouldn't worry about it - it will prbably be better for her. All properties are going to be changed over to this within the next few months. I don't work for British Gas by the way, just a house managing agents, and I am in the process of arranging about 100 of these!

Smart Meters send the readings automatically to your gas supplier. Cuts out the meter reader coming round. It can also be used be the householder to monitor their own use if they want to make savings.

I think.

More job losses then!

I'm still up.....

Smart meters will still need routine maintenance and fixing, so I wouldn't worry about job losses!

But yes Days, I think the plan is for all meters to be smart meters within the next few years. BG probably do own the meter.
