Can I wash my wooden venetian blinds in the bath?

I washed my very old and manky aluminium blinds from the bathroom in the bath and it's a revelation they look so lovely I keep going in to look at them .

I have wooden ikea blinds in the kitchen and was wondering if they would benefit from the same treatment? Or would it damage them to get so wet?

Have any of you tried this?

Is the wood coated in sound varnish? If so you could maybe shower them off in the bath - or hang them over the washing line & hose them.

I don't think dunking would be very good for them though...
