Sorry Star good luck with the new job too, I can't believe the time has flown so quickly since you first applied.

Dylsmum that does sound like a lot of cash upfront - my hackles are already rising at laptop thingy. I suppose it's to standardise so that everyone has same resources and some children don't miss out on having laptops at all, because they can see clearly who does and doesn't have them from start. My ds doesn't even have a laptop at all yet.

dylsmum1998 · 17/03/2010 11:57

Swan I can see why they have the laptop scheme as they do, but ds saved for his laptop himself.he had money from birthdays and christmas and his pocket money so very unfair he cant use it in school. he basically wasted all that money, the reason I allowed him to save like that for it as i thought he wold be able to use it in secondary

good news- Ihave refinished my assignment glad it was still fresh in my head so was able to remember what I siad and which books etc i used

OP posts:
swanriver · 17/03/2010 12:26

That is pretty unfair, I see what you mean
And I suppose they'll change the rules again at some point, technology being what it is..

done
some practising
routines
tidied dcs' bedrooms

swanriver · 17/03/2010 12:28

Wow you have finished! It's probably even better in the second version

scattyspice · 17/03/2010 12:45

dyl at cost of uniform and laptop!

swanriver · 17/03/2010 13:04

I am now feeling so useless/ropey I am going to have to make a list or going to continue going round in circles

bedroom retreat
book revitalise
supper cook
yellow felt/material for Bookday costume locate
primulas plant
potatoes plant

thankyou letters write

four of those will make me feel better

scattyspice · 17/03/2010 19:48

Done:
laundry
Ds to Beavers
DD to Rainbows

DD started Rainbows tonight. Very civilised compaired to Beavers LOL.

Wolfcub · 17/03/2010 20:04

I am very depressed. DP and DF have had an argument tonight as DF has refused to make a speech at my wedding. I had to stay at work late to deal with some urgent work as I have no staff and I've only just got home, I am totally knackered. I have also been ordered to do something which is both illegal and immoral and now have the choice of either doing that and getting screwed or screwing over the two senior managers who have ordered me to do it and getting screwed. I have absolutely positively had enough

swanriver · 17/03/2010 21:56

Wolf sounds awful
for the record, dh refused to make a speech and he was the groom.
Other friends massively fell out over speech at another wedding, but are now best best of friends again. Speeches can be v difficult, even when you just want them (friends, husbands whoever) to say something short and sweet - they just won't!
And other people make speeches which go on far.. too.. long....

Hope tomorrow the work thing will be clearer - sounds v. v hard. I don't know how you cope with it all.

Done
World Book Day costumes (Twins of St Clares - well, one of them, Perks from Railway Children, and Percy Jackson (everyday clothes LOL)
Beavers
various other things none of them housework
cooked: horrid pasta bake which no-one liked (freezer for next 10 lunches
cooked: nice Italian pastry thingy which is meant to be consumed with Vin Santo (I should be so lucky)

swanriver · 17/03/2010 22:00

Scatty Beavers was lovely tonight, naughty children behaved well & we made shamrocks and flags and lots of running around.

wendyhappysmile · 17/03/2010 22:01

swan like the sound of an Italian pastry thing, hope friend ok?
wolf that job has been nothing but trouble, it seems you are always down about work Sending hugs to you. On speech front - if you DF doesn't want to make a speech what is his reason?
dyls glad assignment done
scatty glad redeployment thing not too bad
everyone sorry, I'm shattered, will catch up tomorrow

wendyhappysmile · 17/03/2010 22:02

swan hi, beavers sounds nice. Really MUST phone someone about getting DD and DS's name down for Rainbows and ... cubs?!

Makingchanges · 17/03/2010 22:07

Wolf we had lots of arguments over our wedding. Our best man dropped out two weeks before wedding. I stopped talking to my mum after she told me that she didn't like my dress after I'd bought it. My dress didn't fit and had to have emergency alterations by a new dress maker and so did my bridesmaids dresses and DH forgot to pick up the ushers on the morning. But everything worked out find in the end. I guess i'm saying stay calm and give everyone a little space and it'll work out.

To DO

  • Washing, washing and more washing - Done
  • Sign language revision - Done and have pages more notes to write up from tonight
  • Have a relaxing bath at some point - Ok more likely a super-quick shower but I can dream - Done got the bath and was enjoying the peace and quiet when the window cleaners turned up.
  • Physio knee exercises - need to get into habit of doing these earlier as its getting to be after 10pm at moment and then late in bed - whoops
  • Try and get a bit of assignment done - Ignored it
  • Menu plan for rest of week - forgot about it
  • Mission - Done
  • Online shopping for a few bits
  • Try and find the exercise bike (Under DHs shirts and other bits and bobs) to try and get some exercise as no chance of getting to gym again - no time
  • School
swanriver · 17/03/2010 23:19

Madmen over, just checking cat who seems as frisky as ever tg after op, he's desperate to go out in the garden but not allowed for 4 hours.

Wendy another friend said v.sick friend was improving a bit - as they've found the bug that causes the septicim - apparently well enough to swear on phone from hosp, so that's a great relief.

MC wedding dresses - I think it's only us that get so worried, everyone else thinks we look beautiful
I was convinced mine didn't "hang" properly, was in a complete state about it, and brought my mother to shop to Complain, whereupon she took one look and said v loudly to shop assistants, what nonsense darling, it's lovely, don't make such a fuss.

Now I just have to touch up Perks' hat which is the wrong colour - black food colouring? surplus to Darth Vader icing requirements - hope it works
Good night everyone.

swanriver · 17/03/2010 23:22

Can't believe no one else has been around today! Had a boring day today. I have missed being at work! (the school are having some event this week so didn't need me). Think I'm going to have to do something about a permanent job!
Done everything on my list but then it wasn't very ambitious
BBL

Makingchanges · 18/03/2010 15:54

Afternoon everyone - It is quiet on here today. Didn't get on this morning as I was summoned to be play school. DD woke up with a temperature but a dose od calpol and some quiet time in mummys bed cured that (It was 6am though )

DD brought home a letter inviting DH to a stay and play day at nursery. I'm a little bit at this as DD got all excited cos they were asked to chose someone and she chose daddy but he has to work so she ended up really upset. I've been into school today and got next Tuesday afternoon off so I can go in DH's place. I can't believe that nursery didn't think about daddy's having to work. DH has never picked DD up for a reason!

Anyway jobs for today

  • Find my chequebook - Colour workshop woman wants a cheque and mine has disappeared since DH's 'chuck everything in a bag and hid it' method of tidying at the weekend
  • chicken defrosting for chicken pasta for tea
  • Copy up sign language notes from last night
  • Tidy kitchen - Sign DH made his own tea again. He uses every pot and pan, doesn't wipe the side and doesn't wash up
  • at least one load of washing
  • leg exercises (didn't do these yesterday )
  • DD bath as DH out tonight

Think that will keep me busy

I spent yesterday evening sorting out mountains of paperwork looking for the cheque book - at least its another job sorted - and then found it was in DH's car what good is that!

  • Do assignment

  • Find out car paperwork and file in car paperwork organiser thing as fed up of not being able to find V5, MOT etc for both cars
  • Leg exercises and Ice
  • Find something to wear tonight as going to DHs colleagues birthday party in Leeds
  • Drop DD off at GP's

Right better go and set up DDs game. Back later. Hope you all have fun in the sun today

Starbear · 19/03/2010 09:56

Morning everyone.
Last day as a safer schools officer yesterday. Have been very tired as I have had to brief and walk my replacement to every school & explain the job in double quick time. A little apprehensive about the new post. Looking forward to sitting still and not constantly feeling as if I should be somewhere else or being Wonder Woman. DH's school gave me a lovely bonquet of flowers but I'm not really saying goodbye to them as the majority of staff are personal friends.
So today I'm taking the day off. I'm not really flying but have a little list. I'm going to relax
I'm working tomorrow to help young carers (under 10 years old) know what to do in an emergency with the Fire Brigade & London Ambulance Service, it will be rewarding.
MC I don't know what to do for tea either.
Shepherd pie Saturday something easy Sunday as we are out all day! I want to make minetrone for next week! I'll get my thinking cap on later!

Starbear · 19/03/2010 10:06

MC Just looked over the thread and you did stuffed peppers over the week. My tea problem solved. I'm going to make a double batch of mince add kidney beans, veg & rice to one and use that to stuff the peppers. Topped with chesse will be yummy.
Dyls Have you completed your work? Just thinking about you has made me think of all the things I've left undone at work (oh! well the new guy will have to pick it up!)
Wolf Do you think flying can work in the office?
Right today
Beds made done D/W empty done
various bits & bobs to buy
make a food shopping list
food shopping
load W/M
air clothes
fold clothes
make Tea & dinner for tomorrow
